Have been trying to get air con clutch working hot wired clutch works fine pulled a couple of fuses tried them in diifferent sockets now warning lights on dash carand spanner car on skid road

I have a similar problem with my 94 concorde... and was advised the on board computer was in need of replacement. Further research led to pulling the computer and cleaning the ground connection to the chassis. It will sometimes leak under the computer and corrode, and compromise the ground, which in turn will cause faulty "code" readings and the engine control light to come on.

SOURCE: dash light not working

The light that your having a concern with all appear to be part of the headlamp switch dimming circuit. Check the radio wiring again and make sure it was not wired into the the incorrect power wire that had to do with dash light circuit.

I also have a 53 clio with climate control and the fan stopped working. After being quoted £104 by dealership I decided to have a go myself. Bonnet up, remove driverside scuttle cover. Unplug fan resistor 7701051272 (large plug with black wire to fan)remove securing screws and resistor. Dismantled casing and peeled away gel from soldered side of circuit board around mosfet transistor-desolder and remove. Mine was a N342AD 75344G but the nearest I could get was HUF75337P3 from Maplin £1.68. This was the wrong 'package size' but I managed.Close the clamp slightly (before)to hold transistor firmly and then insert transistor and solder. Reassemble. After I got an email from a scrappy QUOTING £20 if you don't fancy the messing about.

What codes mean


Hi. Vauxhall cars are prone for air mass sensor faults.air mass sensor is mounted between air box and throttle body. Try some one with a similar car and swap as they do not need coding and will reset adaption after a couple of drive cycles. These are not cheap. Good luck.

Assuming the fan works ok, it sounds like the cable from hand control to heater valve has come off or needs adjusting or replacing. Or (less likely) there is a problem with the mechanical valve. The valve needs to open to allow hot water to flow through to the mini radiator (heater radiator) and then both coolant pipes and mini radiator get hot with a warm engine. Try moving the valve lever by hand (somewhere above the clutch pedal).and If you start getting heat with the fan on the fault is the cable..

2010 Vauxhall Astra H (1.4 sxi) Air con previously not working. Had car re-gassed, still no joy. In Opcom Aircon was set to not activated. Changed this to "with clutch setting" an Aircon working now:-) ...


air cont flow sensor may have failed cannot remember on 1.4 model but on 2.0 model its on the left side of the engine. it could be this. a/c dont usually have codes to store. accelerator code is the sensor on the intake on the side. prob just needs cleaning mark were it fits with a pen and take off. on op side there is a hole spray some wd40 in the hole cover it and shack it around . then tip out and leave to dry. then put back on. should be fine then.

Vw touran air con issues


Your A/C system is controlled by your onboard computer. The FIRST thing that needs to be done is to scan the computer system for fault codes and perform function tests on all of the mode control actuators and insure that all elecrical components are functioning as designed. Please note that Volkswagen requires that a VAS 5051/5052 scan tool (or equivalent) must be used to perform this function. Most generic scanners CANNOT be used to do this.

The SECOND thing that should be done is to connect a set of gauges and check the high and low side pressures.

Without any fault codes or pressure readings, there is not much that anyone can do besides GUESS what could be causing your problem.

You may need to reset basic settings for the control module using a scan tool , reading the logged faults stored in the control module is needeed also .

A/C worked one day and hot air the next. 2005 Kia Serento. It's like the compresser is not turning on.


I know t sounds obvious but check the fuses. Make sure the power feed wire has not dislodged from the compressor clutch. the is also a relay that may have died, any compitent mechanic that can look at this will analyze the fault quickly. Lastly be sure that none of the air con lines have split or been damaged and lost its gas. Trying to help without seeing, good luck.

Air con pump not engauging


Hi:

You should verify that your AC system still has a full charge of refridgerant, and if it does,
The problem is most likely the AC clutch assembly on the front of the compressor.

Since the dash light works, and the fan turns on, there is power to the system, but the compressor won't turn on if the pressure switch says the charge is low, and if you turn the switch, and someone can hear a click of the compressor clutch solenoid, but no air, the clutch assembly is probably the culprit

Cruise control does not stay on after setting it.


Possibly a brake or clutch pedal switch fault. Both the clutch and brake pedal have switches to control various things like cruise.

Overheating, not pulling from overflow??


Hi, i'm going to ask if you've checked the fan clutch? with the engine running, do you feel a strong wind flow coming from the fan when you stand near it? If the fan clutch is not engaging, and it will still spin and look as though it is working, but it has no force. This will cause the engine to overheat. another thing to check is whether the electric fan comes on when you put the air con on.

1. If you don't feel a strong blow of air coming from the engine bay when it is running and the hood open, then very carefully and slowly try and see if the fan clutch is working by using a broom handle to hold it still when the engine is running. If it is working well, it will kick the broom handle out of the way. If not, the fan will just stop spinning with the broom handle holding it.

2. turn air con off and run engine. check fan clutch. If fan clutch ok, then turn air con on and see if the electric fan is running as well. If electric fan is not running as soon as you put the air con on, then the supply to the fan is faulty. This could be a fuse, a bad connection, or even switch relay.

The engine fan cannot cool the engine sufficiently on its own with the air con on.

an easy way to get air out of the engine coolant system is to take the cap off, and turn the engine on. with the engine cool enough, you can carefully squeeze the top coolant hose to push out the air and this should make the cooland level drop. top up the coolant through the radiator cap - not the reserve/expansion tank. with the rad topped up to the brim, put the cap back on.

do these tests first. They're easy and will let you identify if the system is working. If these are working, and it's still overheating, then it could be the rad cap becoming faulty, or even if its a replacement cap, it's rated wrong for the lbs, and doesn't let the radiator breath and let the expanded hot coolant flow into the expansion tank. This will make the engine overheat and build up enough pressure so that the coolant gets kicked out of the engine via a hose, splitting the radiator, or eventually the head gasket. This type of fault usually occurs when you sit still at lights, or parked up with the engine running, and you then notice collant squirting out. Also, especially after you've ran the engine and stopped the engine running. The build up of pressure has no where to go so the hot coolant from the engine pushes the coolant out of the nearest hole it can find.

Still, something is making it run hot, it could be the clutch fan or coolant pump.
