2004 Sorento began with code P0305, cyl #5 misfire. Inspected and replaced plugs, wires, and coil pack on cyl #2. Repair shop told me cyl #5 injector bad so they replaced. Still has misfire.I suggeste

If you had code P0305, I don't know why they would have done anything to the #2 cylinder but if they have already replaced the plugs, wires and injector; here are a few more items to check:
1) Check connections from ECM. Look for any corrosions or bent/broken pins.
2) Check the fuel line pressure
3) Check the engine compression
4) And if the above are good, then you will probably have a defective ECM

P0305 means misfire on number 5 cylinder, could be bad plug, ignition coil, injector, or wiring, or low compression , carry out a compression test if ok I would try a new coil on number 5 cyl

P0305 cylinder misfire in 96 chevy z71 k1500 5.7 vortec

i would not spend the money on heads w/out diagnosing # 5 misfire. misfire is caused by many different things. i would first start by verifying in fact #5 is at fault. start engine, with it running and using well insulated plyers, pull each wire off dist. cap one at a time. you will notice the engine missing worse each one you pull until you reach the one causing the miss. this wire, when pulled, will not change the evident missing cylinder. if it is #5, check spark, at spark plug end. stick a small screwdriver or equivilent in the removed boot, and place it a cm away from a ground source. start engine. observe spark. should be nice and blue, and ark a good inch from ground. if no spark, swap a wire and check again. if still no spark replace cap and rotor. if their is spark, make check plug. even though new, its easy to crack porcilan installing it. try another plug. if still a miss, start engine with plug removed, breifly, and compression should be evident. strong popping noise of compressed air. a compression gauge is the proper test ( 4 strokes 125 psi) but if audible compression is heard without a doubt, more than likely fine. w spark and compression seeming ok, next is possible fuel, (injector) or intake leak, leaning ouy cylinder. try this and let me know. 1996 explorer 6 cyl getting a p0305 code

cylinder no. 5 misfire detected. Check the spark plug, the spark plug wire, the fuel injector, The fuel injector o-ring (if the o-ring is bad, no compression). You can swap the spark plug or wire with a good cylinder and if the problem moves over then you've found your problem. Same rule with the injector.

99 dodge caravan #4 cylinder misfires, i replaced spark plug wires and spark plugs. Scanner showed #4 still misfiring, could this be the coil?

It could very well be a bad coil pack,or you have low compression in that cylinder. If the compression is good then go with the coil pack,if not you may need a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket.

if you have a coil on plug system, or a waste spark system.... swap coils and see if the miss follows the coil.... voila... that'll fix it.

it sounds like you may have the wires on the wrong coil. It should be #1 on the #4 coil, and the #3 wire on the #2 coil. you probably have them backwards so 1 and 3 are firing on the exhaust stroke.
the firing order is 1-3-4-2.
they should be hooked like this.
