SOURCE: Disconnect fuel lines from fuel tank

There are two types of connectors on these lines. Either brightly colored quick-connects which do not require tools, (Just squeeze the tabs together). Or black quick connects which must be pushed back to remove line.

SOURCE: Changing fuel filter on 2004 Cadillac SRX

If you go to the auto parts store they should have a fuel line disconnect tool that has a 5/16ths end an a 3/8ths end. The tool is shaped like an X. Before you start you need to pull the fuel pump fuse under the front of the REAR passenger side seat while the car is running and let it stall. it will release the built up pressure. This is important unless you want gas to spray every where. Then take the tool and start with the end of the filter with two lines. Place the appropriate end of the tool over the smallest inlet, push the tool in then pull the line towards the filter and then push the line away and it should disconnect. Do the same with line above. Then you can use the two appropriate size wrenches to disconnect the outlet end. reconnecting the new filter is simple just make sure your quick connect lines click in all the way and you tighten the outlet line well, I think its like 22 or 25 ft/lbs.

Where can I find the Fuel Level Sending Unit in my 2003 Diamante ? My fuel guage is reading empty and I know the dash guage works and the fuses are OK.

Sending unit is inside the tank. First, check that if you ground the signal wire near the tank then the gauge rises. If so, you must pull the unit from the tank.

How do i get fuel line off gas tank on 1998 gmc seria

These lines slide on and off, theres a clip inside the connector that locks it on, theres a tool used to slide into connector end to release clips, slide tool in and hold hold in connector and then pull line out, twist and pull, the line may be a little hard to remove so while holding the tool in the connector twist and pull line out.heres a picture of the top of the tank where the lines go on to the fuel module and also the tool i speak of, this set does fuel lines and other lines i put arrows on the fuel line ones, this kit is $9.00, hope this helps.johnjohn2_84.jpgjohnjohn2_85.jpg

How do you change fuel injectors

Hello,

For a 2003 it is on the frame rail under the drivers side door. Don't bother taking off the black holster that holds the fuel filter/injector onto the frame rail.
1 )Simply unscrew the nuts on both sides of the fuel filter/injector. It will be under pressure. Wear safety goggles. A couple of cups of fuel will spill.
2) Look at the fuel line on the engine side. Notice the clip holding in the line. Remove the line from the clip.
3) Remove the fuel lines from the filter starting with the side toward the engine. This side has more play/laxity in the line.
4) Slide out the fuel filter/injector from the black holster.
5) Slide in the new fuel filter/injector with the flow directional arrow pointing toward the engine.
6) Attach the fuel line to the filter starting with the tank side first. Don't force it and thread out the fittings.
7) Attach the engine side fuel line. The fitting would come together by hand screwing the male into the female end. I did have to use a wrench to gently start it.

Take care.

2003 5.3L Chevy Tahoe. The fuel pump needs replaced

The connectors tend to get dirt and debris in where the special tool slides in which prevents the little tabs from disengaging from the raised ring on the plastic pipe. Pull the line towards the pump as if you were trying to push it on even further and use compressed air to blow out any crud where the tool goes. Then insert the tool and push it in firmly while pulling the line toward the tool a bit to relieve the pressure on the little internal metal retaining clips and at that point with a little wiggling the line should come off. I've taken off dozens and they can be exasperating to say the least. IF all else fails and you are certain that you are going to replace the pump module and absolutely can not get the lines disconnected for the stubby plastic fittings on top of the old one then you could simply break off the plastic fittings on the old pump so you can work on getting the fittings disconnected once you have the tank out. I've had to do this a couple of times but it means that the old pump module can't be used again since the fittings would be broken off of it. Be extremely careful working around the tank as it will be full of gasoline fumes and extremely flammable!

1995 mitsubishi fuel pump replacement

You'll need to remove the fuel tank, disconnect the fuel lines, becare not to move the lines around too much so as not to break them from where they connect to the assembly, and I believe the fuel pump assembly is held in with 3 or 5 screws, remove the screws and unplug the connectors and reverse the procedure.

Fuel filter location

Things to know first: It's about the size of a soup can, has three fuel lines running into it that have quick-disconnect fittings. This means you have to buy a very cheap, plastic tool to disconnect the lines. Tell the parts store you need the quick-disconnect tool that matches your tubing size on the filter: I found an assortment in a package for about $5. Now, jack up the passenger-side of the car. Crawl under below the post that divides passenger front door from back door, and look up. You're looking for a cylinder mounted front-to-back, just inside the edge of the frame. If I remember correctly, you have one tube running into the back (from fuel tank), and two leading out from the front. A one-bolt clamp holds it in place. I found it easier to take the clamp loose work on it. The plastic tool is sort of T-shaped, with the bottom of the T formed by a split tube that connects to a flat disk that is also split. The idea is to hold the tool with the flat disk end toward the filter, and spread the split over the tube: it will slide over the tube end enclose it. You now have a filter at one end, a quick disconnect at the end of your fuel line where it attaches to your filter (metal tubing end of filter), and your tool slipped over the metal tubing between filter and disconnect. Shove the disconnect tool toward the fuel line...it should be possible to force it into the end of the quick disconnect and release it, allowing you to shove the fuel line off. You'll get a bit of gasoline-cologne out of this, but it shouldn't leak much---it's supposed to seal. Now, do the same thing to the remaining two tubes, and your old fuel filter should be completely disconnected. Bolt the new one into the clamp and onto the car....push the three fuel lines back onto the filter, and it's time to crawl back out----you're done. Jack the car back down and grin proudly.
