No spark i have changed the coil starter relay put in a mallory magnetic distrbitor and the cf brian i have fire to everything but no spark to the coil or the plugs and it did run

Have a 67 tang with Mallory coil and distributor


check firing order and ignition timing. Ensure that you have connected the distributor up correctly to the coil. Check to see if the unit requires tacho (rpm gauge) wires connected. Some of these units need the rpm's reading as the ignition pulse determines the advance of the spark

My saturn SL2 died at idle...and now wont crank over...there is juice to the starter and the battery has 13.1 volts


Any starter clicking noises? Try moving the shifter to "N" neutral and try starting the car.
IF that is not successful, find the starter relay in the under-hood fuse box, replace the relay with an identical relay from the under-hood fuse box and see if it will start. This will then eliminate the park/neutral start switch and the starter relay.
Let me know what you find.

1985 gran fury. i've changed the distributor,the brain, the coil, the ign. relay, and the rotor and cap. the car fires when it wants to . more like it starts every other day i have no clue what to do


I'm going to assume you have a 318? Also going to assume that the wires and plugs are in good shape? When it's not starting, do you have spark? If not, do you see spark for any part of the time when you crank it? Have you made sure that the carb is OK and not flooding the engine?
What I just said is'nt a "fix...yet...I need to know this stuff first.

Yes I believe that would fix the problem. It is under the hood mounted in the "power distribution box"

The HEI system, used on 2.5L, 2.8L and 4.0L engines, is a pulse-triggered, transistorized controlled, inductive discharge ignition system. The entire HEI system (except for the ignition coil on fuel injected engines) is contained within the distributor cap.
The distributor, in addition to housing the mechanical and vacuum advance mechanisms, contains the electronic control module, and the magnetic triggering device. The magnetic pick-up assembly contains a permanent magnet, a pole piece with internal teeth, and a pick-up coil (not to be confused with the ignition coil).
In the HEI system, as in other electronic ignition systems, the breaker points have been replaced with an electronic switch-a transistor-which is located within the control module. This switching transistor performs the same function the points did in an conventional ignition system. It simply turns coil primary current on and off at the correct time. Essentially then, electronic and conventional ignition systems operate on the same principle.
The module which houses the switching transistor is controlled (turned on and off) by a magnetically generated impulse induced in the pick-up coil. When the teeth of the rotating timer align with the teeth of the pole piece, the induced voltage in the pick-up coil signals the electronic module to open the coil primary circuit. The primary current then decreases, and a high voltage is induced in the ignition coil secondary windings which is then directed through the rotor and high voltage leads (spark plug wires) to fire the spark plugs.

Lost ignition...turns over but no spark


make sure that the distributor module is ok first.Check that the ign coil is getting a pulse signal when engine is turning,and check ecm fuse and that engine is grounded to frame.

No Spark from coil


i don't beleve 3 volt is enaf for the coil it has to be at least 9 volts
if this car has a resistor on the car or on the circuit going from ignition switch to ignition coil replace it, but if it does not have one then it has to have one built in the circuit wish is going to be very hard to find i will recomed you to get straight ignition power from ignition sw, to an aftermarket ignition resistor and from there to the positive side of ignition coil,
but also let me know what promaster means? is that the brand? or is that a performance coil?
and does your car has elecgtronic? or points system ignition distribuitor.
