SOURCE: fuel/accelerator problems. dies when accelating or at idle. runs when accelerator held in one position for a short while.

CHECK THE IDLE SPEED SENSOR, UNPLUG IT AND SEE IF THE VEHICLE REVS UP A BIT. IF IT DOES, THEN REPLACE IT. ALSO CHECK THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE FUSEBOX. HOPE THIS HELPS. .LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: Car wont idle

you may have a vacuum leak, check all the vacuum lines around your inlet manifold, carbi etc for cracks or ones that have come off their fitting.
Check all the retaining bolts and nuts around the manifold, they may be a bit loose.

Cranks, idles but when you give it gas it wants to die.

You are either experiencing an ignition issue or a fuel delivery issue.
Preliminarily, if the CHECK ENGINE light is on, use an ODB reader to readout all stored codes, and use them as a guide to determine if there are any sensor faults or other issues that need to be addressed. Also, check for signs of vacuum leaks from broken or loose vacuum lines, both under the hood and under the dash (listen for an air escaping sound under the dash while the engine is idling, and find the leaks that way).
Then, start with diagnosing for a fuel delivery issue. Go ahead and replace the fuel filter (it's likely due, since the car is over 11 years old anyway), and notice if there is rust in the fuel filter. If there is significant rust or something that looks like gelatine, replace all fuel in the vehicle. That may solve your issue. If the issue still exists, check for proper pressure at the fuel rail. If the pressure is low, replace the fuel pressure regulator. If the pressure is still low, or if the fuel pump has been making more noise than usual, replace the fuel pump and be sure to replace the intake strainer.
Next, if the issue still exists, perform a major tune-up, making sure to replace the plug wires. If spark is weak, replace the coil pack(s). If new codes emerge during the process, address those. If all else fails, suspect a defective ECU (expensive but not awful).

2001 sentra motor idles but dies as soon as you give it gas

I would check the Mass airflow sensor, if not working properly it will not have the car adjust to the air coming in causing too much air for fuel causing the engine to die.

1990 chevy corsica 3.1 liter v6 engine. started ran fine went shopping and on my way home it dies out of no where, start it back up give it gas dies again. it will run in idle but sounds rough and as soon...

Coils and wires are the most likely culprits as they never get replaced hardly ever. You cant really test a coil, you can check for resistance on the plug wires but that doesnt tell you if the insulation is bad on them.

1989 Cabriolet Fuel Delivery problem

yes,it's your computer module
it's dying or so.
it's the one cutting off the fuel system
i've seen that more than once
the fixer it's to replace the module.
but first to be sure.
unplug it for about 10 minutes.
then plug it back on
and test it and see what happens, if it runs fine for a while then definetly that's your problem.
or have your computer checked.
