You can only add to a system that is under a vacuum,
unless you know what your doing
Need the proper manifold gauges, can't use those
store bought cans with the hose, you will let air in & ruin things
Have to check for leaks,if you know your low on
refrigerant, you have leaks to fix first.
The compressor clutch isn't coming one because
the system pressure is too low,you know that

Thanks for the insight, question, if all I have is the store bought cans, what should I do? Return them and find a shop?

My 2002 TB a/c works for 20 min. Then does not. Checked , no leaks, clutch turns, condenser clicks until blowing hot air, replaced low pressure switch

Something to check because this has happened to me.....Make sure you have enough coolant in the radiator/overflow tank. IF the engine is running hot, the thermal switch on the AC compressor will turn it off to protect the compressor from overheating and damaging it. Don't go by the guage in the dash, it's usless. Hook up a scan tool and get the exact temp. Shouldn't be over 210 which is normal operating temp.

The ac in my wife's Buick Century stopped blowing. When I turn it on I hear a clicking sound near the engine.

On this model you may have developed a leak at the AC compressor and the system is low on charge, that would account for the clicking. If the system is low replace the AC compressor in stead of repairing it., it is accessed through the wheel well liner on the passenger side and from under the car. You can buy rebuilt compressors for this car on eBay for cheap, have on on my own Buick and has been on there for years.

Ac is blowing hot air, but has coolant in it. Is it a compressor problem?

If the system is charged with freon, you need to know if the freon is flowing. A mechanic would check high and low pressure with a gauge while the compressor is running. If the ac system is working correctly, you could have a blend door problem inside the truck. The blend door directs air thru the heater or the ac evaporator depending on the control on the dash.

2003 Lincoln LS hot air while stopped cold while driving

Hello
Based on what you have said and my 30 years a Ford dealer tech I believe you have a slightly low AC system refrigerant charge due to a small leak at the AC compressor or the AC line connections. I would have a shop hook up a set of gauges to monitor the pressures at idle and see just how low it is. DO NOT ADD UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IS NEEDED, YOU CAN LOCK UP THE COMPRESSOR.

Where's the fuse for the AC on 98 Olds 88?

So what does the fuse that blows, protect?

You need a wiring diagram & start to test
the components most likely to cause a high
current draw & blown fuse.

Don't keep replacing it.

You know the fan control circuit works, but the
compressor doesn't stay on. Did you monitor
the compressor as the fuse blew?

May have a module for compressor & fan
If so one side failed
The compressor clutch could be bad

Location of ac high pressure cutout switch on a 97 Plymouth voyager. Could it be a different problem? Had to replaced the PCM and a couple sensors because of a short in the wiring cluster. Now the ac...

HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH LOCATED ON AC COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE LEADING TO THE CONDENSOR.THE HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH WILL CUT OFF THE AC COMPRESSOR IF SYSTEM PRESSURE RISES TO HIGH CAUSED BY RESTRICTION IN THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT OR OVERHEATED CONDENSOR.MAKE SURE COOLING FAN IS RUNNING WHEN THE AC SWITCH IS ON.THE COOLING FAN KEEP CONDENSOR COOL, IF COOLING FAN DONT RUN.YOUR AC WILL STOP BLOWING COLD AIR.HAVE THE REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHECK OUT.MAKE SURE YOUR LOW SIDE PRESSURE IS 10 - 37 PSI. THE HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 112 - 210 PSI. CHECK THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FUSE AND RELAY.

Clicking noise when the car is idling and AC is on. Now there is no cold air only hot air when the AC is on

This most likely is a symptom of low coolant presure. There is a pressure sensor both in the compressor and near the drier / expansion tank on the right side of the radiator. If either one of these senses low pressure the AC compressor clutch is disengaged. The clicking your hearing at idle is probably the compressor clutch cycling. You can watch it cycle by watching the front of the AC compressor pulley. Your watching for the center part to turn when AC is on and not turn when AC is off. Usually this is controlled by a temp sensor but if there is low pressure the preure switches will cause the compressor to cycle. Here is the kicker... you can pay to have the system serviced but.... if they pump it into a vacuum and it won't hold a vacuum there is a pin hole some where in the system usualy the evaporator coils inside the front passenger compartment. No one will re-service the coolant system with a system leak. It is against the law in most states.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Air condition blowing hot air. Type of car: 2003 nissan pathfinder 4x4. Should I replace/add coolant?

Lack of Coolant wouldn't cause your AC to blow hot air.

You may have a vaccum leak in your dash board that is causing your heater to remain stuck.

If not this, then you will have to have your AC recharged. You can purchase a recharging kit from your local auto parts store! Fortunately, your vehicle can use the newer type of AC Recharging kits so you have many options!

Good luck and I hope this helped!

If you have a low freon warning you will need to unhook the battery to reset the system before the compressor will run.
