Radio Reset on 2004 F350 Super Duty

I was wondering how to reset my factory radio in my 2004 F350 Super Duty. I had to disconnect the battery cables. After I did that, my radio will now not allow me to play or eject any of my 6 cds that are inside of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to plug this back in to activate the player and remove the cd's or disassemble the unit to pull them out. There is too much to happen to just power up one circuit. Good Luck.

You could try jumping the relay mounted on the fender carefully with a screwdriver accross the terminals to see if the relay is defective.

Sounds like there is either one of two problems here. The radio has shorted out or the power wire which holds the power when off is getting a bad connection. Sounds to me like the radio is shorted out on the chip where that wire connects because on the stock stereo systems they will not work if the wire is not getting power. What you can do is take a test light and ensure that one of the wires is power on all the time as long as there is one its the stereo. If you have a manual you will be able to locate the power on all the time wire but you can do it by checking them until you find it I am sure it will be working then you will need to replace the stereo I recommend ebay or car-parts.com for thebest deal on a used stock stereo or upgrading to a new stereo with a install kit from walmart.

Open up the hood.

  • 2 Remove the positive terminal cable from the battery using your pliers or wrench.
  • 3 Go to your fuse box in your car, and look at the diagram. Select the fuse that is labeled "ECM" and remove this fuse. Sit the fuse aside for now.
  • 4 Keep the car disconnected like this for two to three minutes to clear the computer's memory.

The check engine light just came on on my 2008 F350 Super Duty but the system check says everything is ok. How do I reset the light?

you can disconnect the negative battery clamp for 5 minutes to clear the CEL, but if there is something wrong it will eventually come back-the best thing to do is have the OBDII connector scanned (free at most commercial auto parts stores) and report back with the actual code for more thorough help.

You say you have tool.......do you mean as in plural? I believe on the Fords there are a set of double holes on both sides of the radio and you have to insert both tools in both sets of holes. Then pull on the radio to get it out.

    Speedometer not working

You could try changing the fuse for all of the gauges but if that doesn't work you could try reseting the trucks computer. Disconnect the battery and turning the light switch to the on position and leaving in for about a half hour. Hope this helps.

    2003 F350 gauge problem

There is nothing to reset on the computer. This kind of problem is hard to find. Most likely it is a connector issue, but could be a bad bcm. I would get under the dash and jiggle the relevant wires to see if anything changes while jiggling. If it does, keep jiggling individual wires and locations to isolate the problem to a specific wire or connector. If you think it's a connector, check to make sure the terminals are fully seated in the connector such that the pins are going into the terminals. If none of that works, play around in the fuse box. Take fuses in and out. Swap relays around, etc.
