2002 nissan altima trunk release on door won)t work is there a fuse for it/ bill p

The release bar on the left hand side of the driver's seat controls both the gas door and the trunk. Push down on it for the gas door release, pull up on it for the trunk door release.

If it aftermarket(bunch of wires and modules under the dash on the drivers side) remove it. If it is still factory it takes a scanner.

Is their a release button inside a 1998 Nissan Altima for the trunk. My key won't work

If it doesn't even click, then maybe. My Nissan trunk latch needs lubricating or it doesn't open... Had to crawl into the trunk through the back seat hatch to open the emergency pull-cord. Twice.

Never heard of anything like that.  But those latches are not as secure as most think, just take a flathead screwdriver, put a piece of cloth around it to protect your paint, and pry the door open, just when you think it's about to break something...pop, it opens just like that.  I've done this quite a few times, only broke one so far.  :-P

There is a cable that attaches to the inside door latch release handle. The plastic that retains this cable is most likely broken. I have seen this before. If the retainer is not holding the cable sheath correctly, the entire cable moves when the handle is pulled and does not release the door latch.

Remove the door panel and inspect this cable. You will see 2 cables (one is for the door lock). If the plastic is broken, you will need a new interior handle assembly.
