SOURCE: my esteem ac fails to cool well on hot days

Hi!

Well i think its a compressor problem. Check out if there is no gas leak in any of the cooling pipes. Its long since brought your esteem, check the blower speed also, it also makes a diffrence in cooling.

Fitting a new climate control system would reduce your mileage and can even make you change your battery and reduce the life of your engine.

Thanks
Rylee

SOURCE: expansion valve location

raven 1g: Your car doesn't use an expansion valve. It uses a fixed orifice tube which is located in the smaller of the two A/C lines, just before they enter the cabin area of the car.
Just disconnect the line and pull the orifice tube out of the line. Be careful not to break off anything and leave it in the line.

1999 VW Passat AC/heat doesn't work? The belt broke this summer? I was told should still blow heat even if no belt?

If you are talking about the belt for the ac compressor, yes the heater should still work.
If the blower is not working, you will need to have the blower motor checked for voltage and ground.

1994 Toyota Previa compressor not working

You may need to try to find a used shop manual for this repair.
The DIY books don't show wiring diagrams for the a/c system.

AC does not blow cool air. They put a new compressor in, but that did not fix problem. Now they say it is the condensor. I don't think they know.

did 'they' check the pressures on the low and high side after the compressor replacement? low pressure with a full charge on the low side would indicate a blockage. unless you had massive compressor failure (metal shavings in the lines) then most likely the condenser is O.K. the most common problem is the expansion valve sticks and doesn't allow the refrigerant to circulate fast enough to cool.

The compressor is bad on my air conditioner. mechanic says i need to purchase the new compressor and the connecting parts. what are the connecting parts?

He would be talking about the O-rings or seals more than likely. While it's apart it's a good idea to have the system flushed as well incase any debris is floating in the lines from the compressor. Any time the AC system is opened, it is common practice to replace the orifice tube (on some cars its called an expansion valve) and the Receiver/Dryer.

Location of ac oriface on 1991 toyota carolla

Hello
Toyota doesn't use a fixed Orifice, they use what is called an "Expansion Valve" both part serve the same purpose to lower the pressure of a high pressure fluid to a low pressure gas. The expansion valve is located at the inlet to the AC evaporator core in the dash. Below is a picture of the valve.

Need location of expansion valve and the differences between two compressors

the expansion valve(Tx) is in the car at the inlet line to the evaporator
with compressors you best get advice from an ac specialist shop as the differences could be the gas that it pumps
some systems use R12 and others use R134a or later gas
