Question about 2001 Hyundai Sonata
Car shifted very hard then check engine light came on. diagnostics check said see a dealer or probable cause was output speed sensor. i replaced it myself and all good for over 2 years and 35000 miles and then it did the exact same thing again with the same diagnostic check (from auto zone)did i ever really fix the problem or just put a band aid on a bigger issue? And how bad would it be to drive the car in this condition?

Problem solved. I had no choice, but to have the car towed to the
Hyundai dealer and at first they thought it was the ECM...
... (Because it had no sparks)
Which is very expensive, $800.00 in Canada...
But finally it was only the power relay of the ECM... $30.00... ouf!
Sometimes it can only be the ground wire, that goes into the car.
I'm posting this, so that if someone else has the same problem
maybe this will help you.
Have a nice day!

it is the O2 sensor in the manifold that went bad. it is an easy fix but i wouid recommend taking in to somwere other than the dealer to save you money. this is small problem that will only effect your gas milage a little

It sounds like you have either a lean or rich condition ocurring, could be exuast leak, vac leak, leaking fuel preasure regulator, cat convertor. At this point would go to dealer for diagnosis.

I am having the exact same problem with my 2001 Hyundai Elantra. I was told that the engine code that comes up when the sensor is on is called "Absolute Pressure In The Manifold". I was told by a "Hyundai Specialist" that when that code comes up it usually means that the seal on the manifold is Fuct. When my mechanic checked that out for me he had noticed that my manifold had 4 cracks in it(can varify cause he showed me). He replaced the manifold and gasket. The car ran fine for about 2-3 days and since then the problem has since come back and my check engine light will no longer go on/off it only stays on. Because of the check engine light always staying on I have noticed that on many occasions my car will hiccup many times in a row. The only way to stop the hiccup I have noticed is to take my foot right of the gas for approx. 2-3 sec then car will continue without hiccup(till it happends all over again). All in all I have been having this problem now for approx. 1 year and if there is somehow someway it could be repaired I would appretiate it.
