1989 toyota celica

Just changed the cold start valve on my 1989 celica and it will start after a few goes but then starts hunting... Reving high then really low and then cuts out if I don't rev it... After a few minutes seems to run fine... I've takin it for small drives and it seems to be fine... Any ideas? It's frustrating me to no end!

Just the other day, I finally received the answer to this problem with my '06 Rainier CXL. The front gear pack (in mine) needs to be replaced. Vehicle is driving AWD, all the time. Expensive repair- $1600. Mine has 93+K miles, the engine is in awesome condition. To repair or not to repair... that is my struggle.

Faulty engine temperature sensor ?? On a cold start the temperature sensor should detect a cold engine and give a signal to the ecu to increase fuel ratio until the engine has warmed up. sounds like faulty sensor to me.

Toyota Celica hesitates at cold start everyday

You know that you have a boost sensor I know you said MAF sensor, but some make and engine size has a boost sensor when this sensor goes you lack power as you described. so make sure this sensor vacuum hose is hooked up it also acts as a MAP sensor. give fuel when you accelerate

My toyota celica 1989 ST has some engine problems, when i start it in the morning the acceleration seems so low and the engine shakes and when i try to move it, the engine stops so i have to start it...

i think you might have problems with your idle speed control valve. and cold start valve. have a mechanic clean it first before replacing to save money

1988 Celica GT Cold start problem and smoke on startup

blue smoke is evidence of oil burning and is most likely valve seals. this can be done on most cars with head still on by applying air to the cylinders this keeps valves up while spring is removed
