Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Legacy misfire My Subaru shows #1 misfire for the code. It ran perfectly so I erased the codes to start from the scratch. I hooked up my snap on scanner and drove the vehicle. All was well and out of the blue a hard consistent misfire started. On my scanner you could see #1 getting continuous misfire. My scanner only picks up ignition misfires#1 continued to misfire for about a minute then stopped. It ran perfect for the rest of the trip. Could you please help me? Thank you

Not much you can do without some testing when the miss is occurring. It could be electrical or the fuel injector.

You can check with a local parts store on the price of the injector. I don't know how much labor would be to replace it.

You'll have to get someone to check the spark and injector on cylinders 3 and 4.
Code 303 is for loss of power on cylinder 3 and code 304 is the same for cylinder 4. The most common causes are lack of spark or fuel.
Once the problems are fixed the codes will need to be erased with a scanner or code reader.

I have a 99 Subaru Legacy (Outback, 2.5L). The check engine light has come on and the codes indicate Cylinder 3 and Cylinder 4 misfires. The light came on about two weeks ago, and occasionally disapears...

hi the cylinder misfire codes are usually pretty specific, if you have replaced the above and it still hasnt fixed the problem try replacing the ignitor or the ecu as thats all it can be left causing the problem

I have Subaru legacy 1995. When I start the engine it chokes immediedly down. There is pleanty of fuel..but have the check engine light coming on and off. The sensour was replaced 3 years ago.

Check your fuses. If you can have your car hooked up to a computer and check the code. The code will tell you where to start. Check your spark plugs and wires. Check for broken vaccum hoses or wires.

Sounds like the coil is going. The crank sensor will fire the ignitor and fires 2 plugs at once. Have the coil checked first. Good luck.

Cylinder 1 misfire on my subaru!!

What you should check first is the spark plug for the #1 cylinder and see if there is a white film on it this would be a sign of a coolant leak which would cause a problem with the O2 sensor
