I have a 1996 jeep cherokee with a 4.0 engine. The battery died recently but it started right up when jumped. However when I let off the gas it cuts off. What would cause this.

Sometimes when the battery is disconnected and-or the computer looses its memory, it takes a while for it to relearn all of the settings.
If you don't have a check engine light staying on, and the problem continues after a few days, you may have to get someone with a scanner to perform a relearn on the engine computer.

SOURCE: generator light on 1996 jeep cherokee. what does

First clean the battery terminals & their connection to the battery. Check to see if the alternator belt is tight. Once started, connect an amp. meter to thebattery terminals. Black to black, red to red. If the reading is over 13.2, alternator is charging. If it is not, change the alternator. If it is over 13.2, you may need a new battery. Have a load test done at any reputable automotive store. Hope this helps & if it does please do the right thing & recommend this advice. Thanks

SOURCE: my 200 jeep cherokee classic's horn wont turn off?

In the PCM is where the Horn Relay is. It's location should be annotated on the underside of the cover you pulled off to gain access. One way to determine if it is the Relay or not is to find a similiar Relay (shape and size) and switch them. If this fixes the Horn problem it is the Relay and should be replaced.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee has started needing a jump to get started about once a week.. had the alternator and battery tested, both are good. 2 nights ago it wouldnt start, so I got a jump and drove it...

I would have a load test done on the battery as there is a dead cell evident from the number of jump starts you need. Have an auto electrician test the alternator for charge rate and out put. check drive belt condition and tension.

Have throttle body cleaned and "minimum air rate" adjusted. Computer looses learned memory when battery is disconnected and has to start over again.
