Question about Cars & Trucks
Is it possible to replace just the water pump and timing chain without any timing problems or do you to change all timing components. Because I'm having problems getting the crank and cam sprockets to line up with the colored links on the chain. I am working with a manual.
No, you have get the timing .Otherwise you must have a lot of troubles. Use the pistol ligth for timing .or go to www.automecanico.com translate this amazing website with your browser and fix it.
God bless you

if you have disconected the battery for more than 15min then see if you have a reset on your fuel pump it would have run with the fuel already in the line

SOURCE: should i bye this car
If this car passes E-Test and doesn`t need much for SAFTEY test, then price is pretty good.
If this car doesn`t run why would you be intrested?? If it needs a timing chain/belt ,then stay away

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Intrepid SE, great
after the repairs needed and the associated cost you will be above value for the vehicle, if you havent heard it run and know it needs a timing chain you run the risk of buying a car with twisted valves. resulting in the need of an engine

Hello and Welcome to FixYa.com
you must have the 2.7 liter engine if so the weep hole for the water pump is inside the engine and yes the water pump goes out and leaks anti freeze and water into engine causing it to sludge up. depending on how long you ran engine with water in it depends on how long engine will last. if not long you should be ok. i would remove the oil pan and clean the oil pump screen and pan. the estimate is correct. the water pump is in line with the timing chain. i would replace the chain and guides while in there as well. flush engine after all is done. use the cheap oil to run engine and add flush then drain and add synthetic oil for high mileage engine. I own one and i had the same problem. i drilled through the timing plate a hole and braised a little pipe to the weep hole to water pump so for the next time the pump leaks it will leak outside of the engine.
