2002 Chevy Blazer P0046 code. Has failed Maryalnd emissions 2x. replaced numerous parts, gas cap etc. Check engine light continues to display.
We have replaced two parts and the Gas cap. There continues to be great pressure in the tank when gas cap is opened. Is it possble there is a crack in the neck portion? Or the tube leading to the Charcoal cannister could be damaged or clogged?

This code's description is P0455 Evap Emission System- Large Leak. Usually ,arge leak means you drove or still driving your vehicle with loose or missing gas cap. Check your gas cap if it is tight. Even if that is the case , tightening it might not turn the check engine light off. So you have to erase the code with a scanner. If your gas cap is in place and tight then you probably have a leak in the emission system which includes numerous parts. So it should be inspected by a proffesional.
(PO452 general motors code, low evaporative emmisions control input) Believe it or not it could be that the gas cap is not on tight or needs to be replaced. Other than that: vacuum line or evap. canister leak.
What you have is a bad sensor or possibly the EGR valve . At this point what you should do is take the vehicle to an auto parts store if you don't have a code reader . They will read the code for free for you and that will tell you witch sensor or emissions related part is giveing you the problem. Most sensors are vary easly replaced some you don't need tools but tend to be somewhat expensive so you don't want to blindly start replaceing sensors The OBD 11 system you have in your vehicle is vary good with reading codes and idenifying the correct sensor the problem is one sensor affects another sometimes so you may have to go back twice if the light comes back on depending on what is wrong . Sensors range 30 dollars to about 200 but most you could replace your self and save the shop bill Good luck with it its probabaly nothing realy bad and will run a lot better when you find the cause and replace it
Causes: A code P0440 could mean one or more of the following has happened: * The gas cap is not installed or working properly * The purge solenoid has failed * The canister is plugged and not working properly
Possible Solutions: With a P0440 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try: * Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. * Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses * Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Evap purge solenoid * Check and/or replace the sensor * Check and/or replace the purge valve * Have a professional use a smoke machine to detect leaks
p0443 is evaporative emission control system, purge control curcuit malfunction, p0449 is emission control system, vent control curcuit malfunction. p0449 is often a filler cap problem on fuel tank. try tightening cap
i have 2003 trailblazer ltz 153 000 mileage i have code po440 .i changed gas cap and turned off the chech engine light... i made 300 miles and it was good and today morning i drove a mile and light turned on ..... what do i have to fix ...thanks
More then likely its the Canister Purge Solenoid. you can find it online at www.autozone.com the part number is PV140. And to replace it on blazer you have to remove the spare tire. Alot of people don't know where this part is so I hope this helps you and good luck.
