Bleed any air from the fuel system from the filter to the pump . If you have pipes to the injectors loosen off the pipe nut at each injector and crank until drops of fuel appear at each nut. If there is air in these lines you will not get enough pressure for the injector to work but as soon as you get drops of fuel re-tension the nuts If you have an electric solenoid shut down (stop) make sure there is power at the unit to activate it as it will be in the stop position until it gets power from the ignition circuit.. Do not use ether as this is a good way of blowing the head off the motor or causing serious internal damage.

Can you please give me details of checking for solenoid stop and how to fix this. I can not get fuel to injector nuts in here a click when I turn on switch from fuel pump but can't get any fuel.

If you have no fuel getting to the injector s then the problem is either air or the solenoid is not working. check for power to the solenoid for starters. If there is a bleed screw on the pump (at the highest point ) try bleeding the air from it as well . If you still have no success I suggest you have a diesel pump shop check it out.

SOURCE: VW POLO 1.9CL Diesel 1997 wont start

hi from uk check the main lead from battery+positive to the starters solenoid is secure ? also there is a thin wire that also connects to solenoid on a terminal of its own this is the solenoid energizing wire that works starter when key start position is selected if all above is ok? then use a jump lead and connect one end to battery negative post then the other end of lead to a suitable earth point on engine ? then try starting? if it works/starts ? you have a bad earth connection to engine from battery negative lead check the earth lead connection at point on engine is clean/secure ? it usually is secured by bolt at point where engine and transmission connect ? hope this helps?

My 1999 vw beetle won't start in snow

Old new beetle VW harness has contact resistance problems(vibration of wires) and needs to be recrimped the long wires(vibration can be stopped by silicone rubber anchoring). Cold weather make battery voltages low and needs recharged with handbrake on(headlamps off) 10 minutes warming engine up the whole winter.

I have a 97 dodge stratus. It won't start. Tried

Make sure it's getting fuel. Try using some ether or starting fluid. If it rumbles to life but doesn't stay running then there's a problem with the fuel delivery system. i.e.... Fuel pump, clogged filter, pressure regulator.... If the ether doesn't change the results you are getting now then it's a fire or sensor problem. Ignition coil, relays, sensors not signaling, PCM... I wish you luck. Let us know how it turns out

Have a 2000 VW Beetle Brake pedal good hard to stop

Possible the check valve on the servo won't work,or you do have a cracked plastic pipe connected from engine manifold to check valve or even after the valve towards the servo and makes the brake pedal strong on application but very hard to stop.

2000 vw new bettle diesel won't start battery dead when i bought it touched it w/starting fluid cranked cut off

If the engine does not reach 300 rpm while cranking..engine will not start.

It needs good battery power to crank these with spare power to run the electronics.

If with good battery if fires and immediately stops, and the little 'yellow car' is illuminated in the cluster.... the immobiliser is active and you need a shop to fix it.

BTW..Stop with the Easy Start fluid already. You'll break a piston ring or worse...such as....the Glow Plugs will cause a back fire and you will likely strip the timing belt...major repairs...like $3500 and up.
