the points as in distributor? they have nothing to do with starter turning, if it is not cranking i would try and have someone hold key to start and you tap on the starter with a hammer and if it spins over you have a bad starter

Im installing a starter and solenoid back into the car and the cable coming up from the engine block with a red casing is lost?? I have no clue which screw coming off the sylanoid to attach this cord to....

The starter wiring is not that difficult, and the wire with the small eyelet connector goes to the small "S" terminal on the starter solenoid.

The positive battery cable and any other wires with the large eyelet connectors connect together at the large upper main terminal on the starter solenoid.

Any ground strap if the vehicle has one would be used at one of the starter mounting bolts to help ground the starter motor, here is a diagram of your starter to help assist you, and let me know if you require any further assistance.

make sure your key is on, look at the wires on your starter, figure out which one is pos. and which is ground. take a set of jumper cables and connect bat.pos. to starter pos. and then neg to neg basicly bypass starter sylanoid ..or easier way ..pull starter and take it to advance or orielly s and have em test it

How do the wires go on the solenoid on a 94

Most starters have one large wire ( the same size that goes to the positive side of the starter) and another wire (which is smaller) that goes to the ignition switch and only receives power when the key is in the crank position. So if those two wires end up touching each other somehow, then that is exactly what would happen. When you connect the battery terminals the starter will engage and try to start. Originally I don't know why you replaced the solenoid, but a cracked electrical portion of the ignition switch will do the same thing. So what I am saying is if you replaced your old solenoid because it burned out, there is always that possibility that your ignition switch was faulty and burned it out. Good Luck. Hope this was a little helpful.

Starter sylanoid clicks, won't start

replace the starter solenoid, the heavy main contacts that it connects when actuated are burnt and not making a connection, that is why you hear the click and no start engagement, a very common problem.

Yes it could be wear on the ring gear.To check move the car slightly when in gear and try starting again. or remove the starter and check if any teeth are missing on the ring gear. (the ring gear is a large cog wheel around the outside of the fly wheel). It is still most likely to be the starter. Although it seems ok the sylanoid may be to weak to throw the cog wheel into the ring gear

F-350 turbo-diesel hard starting

Imagine the white smoke is unburnt diesel. Anybody standing in the middle of it will be able to tell you soon enough.

Most likely culprit is that one or two of the glow plugs aren't getting hot enough. Usually just that the plugs need replacing, but worth checking first that the busbar which runs between them all is getting +12V at the appropriate stage of the process.
