Question about Cars & Trucks
2002 Chevy Cavalier, my son was driving it on Interstate, it shuttered and recovered, in about 5 miles more it quit. It is just like the ignition switch is turned off. No power windows, no gauges or idiot lights, nothing works that requires the key to be on. It is a stick, he down shifted and turned engine over as he coasted to the side, no noises (mechanical issues). Just cleaned battery terminals and checked fuses, nothing blown at this point. Any help would be great.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

You can jump across the celonoid on the starter. If the engine turns over then your problem is either the celonoid or the starter switch.

See this alot. Sorry,It appears that is a symptom of a bad motor. If it moves an inch or so,then nothing, after a few minutes another inch or so,it's motor time!

If the lights dim, its the starter, If they go out, you have a bAD BATTERY CONNECTION. This cranking with lights on . It may be neutral safety swith, May be clutch safety if manual trans. I'd go for the battery connection is poor. Ck the ground/neg first.
