The throttle position sensor should not have any effect on the idle.
The computer uses an idle speed control motor on most engines.
If base idle is set right, and the throttle plates are clean, it should idle around 500 RPM even with the speed motor disconnected.

1994 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham "Traction Control" dash light. OBD1 code 4:64, define as TPS malfunction, but the TPS is working perfectly. Where do we go from here.

Did you watch the TPS numbers on a scan tool in your car?
TPS code means TPS bad or wiring or TPS adjustment.
Change the TPS as they cost nothing and do wear out.

The car will not idol 88 cadillac tps

I will only guess here
I had a 1986 Cadillac
The TPS Sensor was adjustable when you loosen
to two holding screws
You use a volt meter & back probe it, if you replaced or
loosened it
The idle was controlled by a solenoid under the throttle
body I had to pay about $106.00 with a discount at a dealer
at the time & that was expensive to me then.
Air Idle Solenoid
If you had an old OBD1 scan tool i don't know if
you could control the idle & actuate it or just have
to replace it
May need cleaning but it has to be very old & doubt
the solenoid works well

My 1985 Fiero is hard to start and when it starts it idols but when I put it in gear it goes dead ?? I put in a new Idol control valve and a new Throttle position sensor, I did notice when I put the TPS on...

try the fuel presure regulater it should be on the fuel rail ( that is if it is the V-6 ) it hasone vacum line on it and it has i think like 6 screws holding it in. it will cause just that same problem it will also cause it to flood at idle and foul plugs and make it idle rough you may have to chage the plugs also. you might check the vacum to. it should run on stright vacum from the intake.

Idol very high 3000rpm possable idol sensor

throttle positioning sensor voltage should run around 1 volt at idle. If you unplug the sensor the car should still run on the presets in the computer, this will turn on the check engine light but if the RPM's drop down to normal replace the tps.

My idol sits around 100-300 RPM

your idle should be around 750 to 850 in park or neutral
i don't know how it even runs at the rpm you listed.
your vehicle should have a tps sensor
"throttle positioning sensor" you might have to have it reset
