May be it is asking for a mechanic because it may involve wiring etc. Try banging in the dash moderately gently if any loose connection is the issue.

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Sierra - 1. started out with blower

there is a blower resistor mounted next to the blower fan.the ground can overheat and if the fan stops,so will the airconditioning. the a/c fuse is a 30 amp,and the blower has a 40 amp fuse.the fuse box is on the drivers side.the big square fuses on the row nearest the firewall are the ones to look at.getting at the blower motor and the resistor is tricky.there is a cover on the lower dash with four 7mm screws.the one in the middle requires a 7mm deep socket and 1/4 ratchet to get out as there is only a couple inches to the floor.if you remove the cover, you will find the blower motor and the resistor block, which has 2 screws holding it to the blower assembly.the harness has 7 wires on it.the black is the ground and the red is power.the red is fed by the 40 amp fuse, and the other wires except the black, are fed by the fan switch.look at the end of the black wire if it melted, the pin needs to be replaced.the blower resistor is a green ceramic block and has a 2 pin connector going to the blower is power and black is ground.

SOURCE: 2004 gmc 1500 sierra heater control stuck on

Defrost is the default position. Is the control a autyomatic temperture control unit? ( you set the temp and select automatic) if it is the system is completely electronic. You push the buttons and the control still says defrost or can you select something else and the control shows it but it just keeps coming out the defrost? If the control changes and the air comes out the defrost anyway and the cheack engine light isn't on, then the problem can be blown fuses or an air door actoater not working. Does the dash emit a clicking sound? if it does with the covers off the bottom of the dash reach around touching the different pieces till you touch the idem that is clicking. this is an acutor motor, or blend door motor. they have gears in them that wear out and break the motors aren't repairable and you just replace the ofending motor. the door that is moves can be stuck. and may have to be freed up with blaster, WD40, or other rust buster till it moves easy. maybe after getting the door to move smoothly you can get the old motor to move the door wiithout having to install a new one.

SOURCE: GMC sierra speedometer stuck at 40mph

There was not a recall, but there was a class action settlement where GM agreed to extend the warranty on certain vehicles for this problem. Check to see if you qualify.

My 2000 gmc sierra z-71 has started idleling at about 1300 rpm after driving for a while. when i turn it off and restarted it would idle fine for a while then start idleing high again. it is getting to...

I assume the check engine/ service soon light is on. Commonly the MAP sensor is the culprit, but can be TPS, CSS, even a buggy O2 sensor. Only way to be sure? (light or not) is to scan it.
