SOURCE: 2004 chev trailblazer #6 piston losing compression - replace?

If you want to, you can change just that piston...or more likely that one set of rings (but will need to buy a set) It's not a routine repair but it can be done. The cylinder head needs to be removed, as does the oil pan. Even with the few special items you will need, the price is far below what the engine replacement will cost. Don't buy anything till its apart so you can have the head checked. I'd also look into a good used engine likely installed it's at least $1000 cheaper than the two prices you listed.
I would only buy one that has similar or less miles that sustained a rear or side impact. If the body is perfect that shows that the car likely had mechanical problems otherwise why scrap it? Is the dealer overpriced???Show me one that's not!!!

SOURCE: My 2004 Trailblazer fan won't run on setting one

Fan problem is the blower resistor module. Very easy to fix ,located right next to the fan under the dash behind the glove box.It has screws that hold it inside the air duct. just remove, unplug from blower motor and replace. A new one costs about 25$.

How do i put new coilpacks on my 2003 trailblazer?

Hello Deborah,

Place a spark tester on your coil lead to test for spark.

If you have fuel pressure, reasonable compression and a spark your engine should at least try to start.

Why did you replace the coil packs in the first place? and did your vehicle run before the swap?

New battery and camshaft actuator truck is flashing check engine light and shutting off

when the check engine light keep flashing, means a severe misfire it's happening, the vehicle should not be driven to avoid engine damage
I will check the spark in cylinder number one, if good blue spark it's present, then I will check the engine compression just to be sure nothing bad has happened, above 150psi it's good compression
if compression it's good then look into the injectors, engine timing clogged exhaust computer controls.

I know something in my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer is drawing power from my battery when the engine is shut off. I took it to Auto zone for a diagnostic and the was told I had a code he had never seen before...

I say that they are just throwing things that are possible at you to have you replace those items. Here are a few things you can do to check yourself kinda of a round a bout solution. Does the vehicle start hard or normal? If normal then your starter is good. Take a multimeter to your battery, if it is 12.2 or higher then the battery is good, if its lower then the battery is bad. Now start the vehicle, with the vehicle running if you are getting more then 14 volts alternator is good. Another thing you can do, is go to the local auto parts store and put a load on your battery, if the load tester shows good then its good. With my Trailblazer, I had a short in the dash which was causing my battery to die. I have seen a few clients with Trailblazer that the ground wire was causing the issue.

I had a diagnostic done and the catylatic converter and oxygen sensor showed problems. Found out mechanic took off catylatic convertor and I'm losing fuel and its running very bad, stalling and missing and...

At best, it probably won't run right with the cat off. Pretty sure there is a ten year warranty on the cat. If there is, there was no reason not to replace it.

Truck turns over but sluggish to start and is shaking/vibrating when idling, not running smooth anymore. What could be the problem?

could be that you need a tune up, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc or it could be bad injectors and icould be a fuel pump going bad.. i would do a pressure check of the fuel system first then the tune up if needed.

04' Ram 1500, bad mis-fire. cust repl s/plugs. no help. Codes for coils #7 & 8 w/mis-fire. replaced coils & wire set. Better, but still P0300. Compression good

You still have random misfires (PO300)
You most likely replaced those coils that set a code, and those were not the one bad offender, spiking the computer module.
Take a new coil and put in a cylinder,no change, replace old coil and move new one to next cylinder. You can do that once or twice a day, if you have nothing else to do. You need a 90 degree day, to really get that solved, unless you have an ignition oscilloscope.
Never had a bad spark plug in 45 years.
