SOURCE: Door ajar message goes on and off even if doors are closed

Your door closed switch may be failing. I seem to remember that it might be part of the door latch, otherwise it will be a button in the door jamb area. You need to check the switches with a meter.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Expedition "door ajar"

The door ajar switch is located inside the rear door face along with the latch. They can tend to get dirty and sticky over time. Using your favorite petroleum based lubricating spray, shoot it directly into the door latch area, being very liberal. Open and close your doors several times to make sure the switch is working freely. You should do this one door at a time so you can diagnose which door is causing the issue in case it resurfaces. Should be good to go.

Good luck.

That shop is responsible for any damage outside of the fix. If the plug hit the piston severe damage may have resulted. Use a magnet to try to remove the broken zerk. Make sure you are using the correct plug.

Car door got hit while open and wont close how do i fix it

The problem sounds like the hinge pin and bushings Its a heavy door and the bushings ware out see how far you can move the door up and down with it open if more then 1/2 of an inch this it the problen .You can get the pin s and bushings at any auto store for about 10 dollars usely the upper is the one . The pin is not hard to do its putting the damping spring back in that is problematic although the door will open and close with out it you just need to be careful about it swing open to fast the spring stops that from happening and you need a speical tool to install the spring

there is really no question here. the best way to fix this is to keep him away from your car or get a jeep with fabric doors that cant be knocked off while parked.

The doors do not close properly. Every time you hit a bump in the road the doors rattle.

I have this on my 2003 Expedition also. The doors get "loose" on the hinges and they can be adjusted at a garage. I have mine tightened every few years - usually when it's in for other service - the charge is minimal.

2004 Expedition - rear heat blows cold air only. I'm told that the blender or damper door is likely broken. Does anyone have a diagram of the rear heating system I can follow to replace this part?

The Expedition uses the same HVAC system as the Ford F150 pickup truck. The Expedition is a little tricky though because you have to remove the center console and floor heat distribution vent to access the actuator motor. Once you remove the motor, you can examine the blend door axle for cracks or breakage. This is a common fail mode on the Expedition.

HeaterTreater is the world's leading company for aftermarket blend door fixes and has a product for the Expedition. Additional diagnostic information and pictures are available on the Ford Expedition HeaterTreater Ebay listing or the web site at www.heatertreater.net. There is an inexpensive effective fix available that replaces the cheap plastic door with steel that will outlast the vehicle.

How do you replace the drivers door hinge?

The hingepin is available in some of the help kits at the parts store. If you are just trying to make the door tight again there is no reason to unbolt the hinge. You just grind or chisel the top shoulder of the pin away and then punch the old pin through the bottom.

Put the new pin through the hinge and bend a shoulder on the new pin. Some may even use a nut with threads.

To install the pin or replace the hinge you should open the door and try to brace the bottom of the door with a bucket or books or anything where you can keep the door from changing position. Once braced, a hinge will just unbolt and you can swap it with the new part. Do one hinge at a time if you have 2 on a door.

I have no heat on a 2001 ford expedition

i think you may have a tempature blend door failed or broken in the ac-heater plenum assembly, like wow i know that sounds extreme but ive done a lot of them. the door controls airflow between the heater core and evaporator core for heating or cooling. the hinge on the door breaks and it stays in whatever position. the door is controlled by an electric actuator.
first when the engine is warm and running, feel the heater hoses that go into the passenger compartment through the firewall.
see if both are hot. if they are then the problem is inside the passenger compartment and coolant level, themostat, heater control valve, and all that is ok.
under the center of the instrument panel, to the right closer to the passenger side, is the temp blend actuator. wiht a flashlight and some hunting you can tell if it is moving when you change from hot to cold on the controls. if it is moving the door is broken inside.
the dash has to come out and the plenum partially dissasembled.
good luck
