Vinyl replacement windows are totally maintenance free. They are scratch, stain and UV ray resistant.

Are you restoring a cars vinyl top? It is VERY costly to have one replaced, upwards of $1500. Here's how to do it for a song! Remove the old vinyl top by scraping and cutting. Remove the window trim if necessary. Prepare the surface of the cars top by sanding as if you were going to paint it. You don't need to primer paint it. Go to your local parts store and by a spray on truck bed liner kit. Some can be bought for as little as $99. Mask and protect all areas of the car you don't want to be covered with liner. Apply the liner to the top just as per directions on the kit, as if you were applying it to a truck bed. Allow to dry thoroughly. The result is a beautiful 'Vinyl' looking top that is almost bullet proof and will last ten times longer than vinyl. Cost; about $150 and an afternoon. I used this method on a 1978 Ford LTD II I restored. It took 2nd place in a car show! I listed this under Ford cars, but it works on all cars! Good luck! You're gonna' LOVE the results!-- 8-)

The measurements for vinyl top on 1984 bonneville

An upholster will be able to help you here I have used vinyl tops on cars and from experience they are the best rust producers ever invented . Over time the UV rays from the sun produce small pin size holes in the vinyl and the moisture gets in and the rust starts . Just a suggestion to check vinyl roofs in the wreckers and see how many are rust rotten -- if you want to keep the car.

I just bought a 1996 ford bronco to day and the rear window worked then i tried to open tailgate and now it wont work ? can you help.

This is a pretty common problem, Inspect the wiring in the tailgate jam area ,the wiring takes a lot of abuse ,every time the tailgate is open and closed the wiring inside the( black vinyl tube ) gets flexed back and forth and in time the wiring breaks some times if you open up the vinyl tube and inspect the wires it will appear the wires are ok but if you pull on the wire you'll find that it will actually stretch and all thats holding it together is the vinyl insulator ,also there are switches in the door latches of the rear gate that tell's if the tail gate is closed,if its not closed completely it will not allow the window to work properly hope this gets you in the right direction

How to get to drivers side window to repair it off track pontiac grand am 1999

First you have to remove the door panel .Once the panel off, unplug the window motor and use a volt meter on the plug that plugs into the motor.Push the up/down button and check whether you get about 12 volts, if you do then your motor needs to be replaced. If not then the problem the main control switch on the driver door. You have to remove the motor in order to get that window up.

Thank you !!

The vinyl welt or glass run channel is curled up in the track binding the window glass fron coming up. After it sits for a minute or two like you stated it works its way up a little more each time. The reason is the curled up welt (vinyl) has to takes sometime to work its way back out somewhat. Then it will go up a little more and quit and so on as you said. To fix this you can add a lubracant called dri slide which will work possibly only if your window is fully up at that time. You will need to saturate it between the glass and the run channel (welt) that is curling up causing it to bind. I would do both sides for good measures. If this does not work to greta all you can do is to replace the welt for the glass run channel.

My drivers side window goes down fine but when i go to put it up it will go up a inch then stop then ill have to wait 5-10 min than it will go up a little more and so do i fix this?

If there are no broken clips or parts use a non-grease lubricant to spray on the window glass/outside trims, the regulator/motors failed because they were overheated for lack of lubrication.

Hope this tip helps.

How to install a rear vinyl window in a convertible

Your window is not attached to the top material.
Both the top and the window are attached directly to the frame.
You can get instructions for this procedure on DVD at this link.
