SOURCE: i have a 96 ford bronco and is there a vacuum cap

Hi Ugalc41,
Here are the two vacuum diagrams I could find for your truck. One is for a truck with Federal Emissions (49 State) and the other for California Emissions (50 State).

I am not sure what you are looking at,so use the diagrams to pin it down. They will show you what was connected where. I hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else.Chuck

SOURCE: I have oil pumping up out of my valve cover into

If your oil level is good, it might be one of a few things...two of which will require you to remove the valve cover and inspect inside. First, check to make sure that the PCV fresh air inlet is clear. If its blocked it could be creating too much vacuum in the crankcase. Second (this will require you to remove the valve cover) there should be a baffle inside the valve cover where the hose connects...check to make sure it still there. While you have the cover off, make sure there is no sludge blocking or partially blocking the oil passage holes in the head. This could allow too much oil to accumulate under the valve cover and overwhelm the PCV. Good luck!

P1443 - Very Small Or No Purge Flow Condition A fuel tank pressure change greater than a minus (-) 7 inches of H 2 O in 30 seconds has occurred with purge (fuel vapor) flow less than 0.02 pounds per minute.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between EVAP canister purge valve and FTP sensor.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between EVAP canister purge valve and engine intake manifold.
  • Blocked vacuum hose between EVAP canister purge valve-solenoid and engine intake manifold.

1996 Ford Aerostar 3.0 L V-6 Constant check engine light ON Ran codes. Code says vacuum leak on fuel canister. I'd like to change all the vacuum lines. Don't have a good schematic. Haynes manual only...

what codes?

The vacuum lines run from the canister to the intake manifold. One is the purge hose to deliver stored fuel vapor to the intake to be burnd when engine is warm and you are crusing at part throttle. The other line is the vacuum line to operate it.

Fuel Vapor Valve, Aerostar (4.0L Engine) The evaporative emission valve (9B593) uses a small orifice, 1.83mm (0.072 inch), that allows vapors to pass into the vapor line running forward to the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister) (9D653). This evaporative emission valve mounts directly into the fuel tank (9002) using a fuel vapor separator seal. Fuel vapors trapped in the sealed fuel tank are vented through the orificed evaporative emission valve. The vapors from the fuel tank leave the evaporative emission valve through a single vapor line and continue to the evaporative emissions canister in the engine compartment for storage.
Fuel Vapor Canister Purge Regulator Valve, Aerostar, Ranger Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect wire harness from evaporative emission canister purge valve (EVAP canister purge valve) (9C915).
  1. Disconnect wire harness from thermistor.
  1. Disconnect evaporative emission canister purge valve assembly from fuel vapor canister and throttle body.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Engine diagram 96 vw passat vr6

PCV valves aren't common on European cars, instead they regulate vacuum flow by connecting a small diameter hose to a very small hole in the intake manifold or throttle body.

The other end of the hose is typically connected to the top of the engine at the oil mist and flame trap which is usually inside one of the cam covers. The main engine crankcase breather hose typically also connects there and sometimes is connected to the air cleaner side of the air intake and sometimes directly to the air filter housing.

The small hole generally needs checking during maintenance as they frequently become blocked. The hole is something like 5/64 inch but mostly it is beneficial to enlarge it just a little, say to 3/32.

Sorry can't advise you about the diaphragm valve...

Where is the pcv valve located on a 2003 ford ranger

  • The PCV valve can be located in several places. The most common location is in a rubber grommet in the valve cover. It can be installed in the middle of the hose connections, as well as installed directly in the intake manifold.
  • Once the PCV valve is located, make sure all the PCV system hoses are properly connected and that they have no breaks or cracks.
  • Remove the air cleaner and inspect the air and crankcase filters. Crankcase blowby can clog these with oil. Clean or replace such filters.
  • Oil in the air cleaner assembly indicates that the PCV valve or hoses are plugged.
  • Make sure you check these and replace the valve and clean the hoses and air cleaner assembly.
  • When the PCV valve and hose are in satisfactory condition and there is oil in the air cleaner assembly, perform a cylinder compression test to check for worn cylinders and piston rings.
