SOURCE: The hood does not lock when it goes down. It

Your safety latch should keep the hood from flying open, but you need to get the latch working. Check and see if the hood release handle is fully in. Sometimes they stick out and keep the latch from engaging. If it is in, then spray some lube on the latch assembly, such as WD-40, and cycle the hood release handle to try to free it up. If this doesnt work, the latch might need replaced.

SOURCE: I can't get my hood to open. The internal

While someone is pulling the thing inside the cars have someone outside the push down in the center front (where the latch is underneath) down. You may have to kind of push and release quickly. If the cable is still attached there it should release.

Your hood is not locking in the closed position...the potential
for the hood to open fully while you are driving at speed is very
real and could put you in a very serious situation. PLEASE
have this repaired.

Hood will not lock on 2002 Volvo S40

Check if the left and right hight adjustable stops are to high. If you put pressure above the latch and it works. This will most probably be the issue.

My hood won't close all the way on my infinity g35

For anybody who finds themselves with this same problem currently: The male part of the catchers on either side (looks like a squarish loop) is adjustable. You might think this part is set right when fully tightened as it is attached to the hood by its ***** end. Its adjusted by either twisting it clockwise or counterclockwise. If you fully tighten them they wont reach the catch before the rubber bumber (right near the piece in question) hits where it rests. The bumpers are also adjustable and all these pieces can be used in conjunction to adjust where the hood sits on the grill side.

Try spraying a little WD 40 on the hood latch. Sometimes it gets stuck and just needs to be loosened up a bit.

Hood latch won't latch when closing

Raise hood, have some one go pull hood latch and you look at latch and see if it releases,if it doesn't then cable may need replacing,I would'nt completely shut hood cause you may not get back open, also check hood latches bolts and latch for something bent or broken.

I can't get hood open to my buick regal gs

WHen I have a car with a hood that won't open, I go thru the grille. Disassemble the grille off the front of the car, and anything else in the way until you can get a hand/screwdriver/pry bar/etc. on the
lock release, and reach up and release it. What happens with hood release mechanisms is that they experience rough use (hood open/close cycles combined with road vibration), and become loose. Once they're loose even a little (even as little as a quarter inch), the hood won't open.

Hood is jammed closed, inside latch will not release hood.in side latch is fully up, no pop on hood. hood is locked tight

I am not familiar with this particular car, however MANY times I have opened a hood by having one person hold the lever up (or out), while another presses down or hits with a closed fist, the hood near where it latches. After you get it open, thoroughly clean and lubricate the latch mechanism. I hope this helps you get in.
