The powertrain control module (PCM) communicates with the instrument cluster using serial data over the UART serial data bus, CKT 800. When the instrument cluster determines a Pass Theft condition, the instrument cluster sends a coded password to the PCM. When the instrument cluster receives the correct password, the PCM enables the fuel injection system in order to allow the vehicle to operate normally. The PCM may allow the vehicle to start and stall quickly during a failed theft condition.

The Passlock™ lock cylinder is a locking cylinder that turns a rotating magnet past a stationary hall effect sensor. The rotating magnet creates a resistance code (R-Code) that the cylinder sends to the instrument cluster. The Passlock™ lock cylinder interfaces with the instrument cluster through a 3 wire connection. The 3 wires have the following functions:
• Power
• Ground
• Data
The THEFT SYSTEM indicator will not light under any circumstances.
Replace the instrument cluster.
For Chevrolet vehicles, refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
For Pontiac vehicles, refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
Multiple indicators light continuously.
Test for a loss of serial data. Refer to Data Link Communications System Check .
Instrument cluster DTC B1021 sets.
The DTC indicates a loss of powertrain control module (PCM) serial data. Refer to Data Link Communications System Check .
Instrument cluster DTC B1022 sets.
The DTC indicates a loss of SIR serial data. Refer to Data Link Communications System Check .
Instrument cluster DTC B1023 sets.
The DTC indicates a loss of ABS serial data. Refer to Data Link Communications System Check .

Indicator bulbs for what? If you are talking about indicator bulbs in your instrument cluster, you must remove the instrument cluster to replace them. Then, it depends on what kind of car you are talking about. Some of the newer instrument clusters use non-replaceable, LED lamps. When these fail, the entire instrument cluster must be replaced or shipped out for repair.

The first thing that you have to check is the fuses. If you have broken fuses, your devices will not work. Check these before you try anything else. If this does not work, I would recommend going to a repair shop to replace to replace the instrament cluster and everything else. I hope this helps! Please give me 4 thumbs up!

It sounds like the voltage regulator for the insturment cluster is malfunctioning -- that's why you got the recommendation to replace the instrument cluster.

If it were just the temp guage failing, the problem could be a faulty temp sending unit in the engine block. However, with more than one guage failing, it sounds more like an insturment-voltage- regulator problem.

An instrument cluster would contain the voltage regulator.

It's possible that the voltage regulator cold be repaired and an entire cluster would not be needed.

You have a failed control panel PC board. Three yrs ago, we had ours replaced on the 2004 Suburban that we bought used. We took it to a dealer to be repaired. We ended up not paying for the repair because it was a factory recall that we didn't know about when we bought the vehicle.

there is a 5 volt regulator that supplys power to the gages. it is located on the instrument cluster or in close proximatey. you'll have to locate it, find the part number, obtain one at an electronics store, de-solder the old one and solder in the new one

dash cluster assembly needs replacement/try used one or go to dealer and spend 90.00 for diagnoisis if you have to buy new no return on electrical parts
