Question about Cars & Trucks
I have a 1975 chevy C30. It has a odometer in the dash. the wiring harness has 3 wires going into the odometer. Black (gnd),Pink (fuse panel) and a brown wire which I must of unhooked when I swapped engines.Where does the brown wire go to?
The odometer uses the same cable the speedometer uses. It should be mechanical.
Now the HEI coil has two pinks and a brown. One pink goes to the pickup in the bottom of the distributor and the other pink goes to the key switch. The brown goes to the pickup or the ignition module in the distributor.

The Best diagram you can get is at alldatadiy.com it has the sections and locations and color of wires with pictures.

Well, according to my diagrams for 88-94 models, the alternator only uses the red and brown. There are pink-black wires that power some of the sensors and solenoids but should go to a fuse marked ECM in the fuse box.
Have you tried hooking up the harness without using the pink-black wire ?
