Your Oil Pump is Out and will need to be Replaced. This is not a Job that you would want to attempt on your Own unless you have been a Mechanic. Trust Me. Been an ASE Certified Mechanic for 35 Years.

SOURCE: 1997 nissan pickup 4wd, just had timing chain

Not likely. You have a 4 cyl engine with over head cam. It has hydrolic lifters. If it wasn't making the noise before he replaced the chain, then its something he did...or didn't do. If it was making the noise before, most common reason would be 1 or more lifters not pumping up. If you have a six cyl, no one changed the timing chain, (It doesn't have one!) The 3.0 6cyl has a belt.

What is the cost to replace timing chain for 2003 nissan sentra gxe? When i should change it. It completed 95000 miles. What other things i should replace or inspect when go for service?

Probably pretty expensive considering all the parts that have to be removed to do the job. You really should not need to replace the timing chain unless you have a problem with it. I am assuming this car has a ka24 engine and to replace the timing chain the valve cover timing covers and oil pan need to be removed. If you have never replaced your spark plugs its probably time to do so. check the belts and filters and you should be good.

2000 ford explorer sport 4x4 timing timing chain rattling. have heard that changing to a synthetic 5w30 oil with wix filter will quieten it down. any feedback or experience on this ? It is the 4.0 sohc...

A change of oil may help, but problem likely due to a combination of stretched timing chain and worn anti rattle chain tensioner.
If noise persists, a new chain and checks to tensioner would be worthwhile.

Rattle in the valve now has no power and hard

pull valve cover and start checking your valve lash and if you do know how i would take it to a shop or buy a repair manuel and a feeler guage from your local auto parts store also check all the rocker arms and valve stems look for brokin valve springs if every thing looks good check valve lash.check timing chain or belt for abnormal wear if its a chain check and make sure its not to loose and if its a belt look for missing teeth on the belt this can cause very serious damage to your engine if its a zero clearence engine.

What will my car sound like, if the timing chain needs to be replaced? I have a 1997 Nissan Altima.

there will be a rattle the front of the engine. the end with all your pulleys and belts on. And it will be hard to work out if it's in the engine or the pulleys.

It is a common that a TICKING coming from the front of the engine is the timing chain guide.

This -->LINK<-- will help you alot.

My KA24E SOHC will not pass 2500 rpm while driving or just reving.

On my 300ZX, a rev limit of 2400RPM indicated a failure of the mass airflow sensor. That was a Nissan safeguard, and it's probably the same on your 240 - check that out, clean it with electrical contact cleaner, and if the problem doesn't go away, replace it.

1989 Dodge Raider timing chain worn out, 4 cylinder? Bought a 1989 Dodge Raider and it rattles in the engine when it is idleing, A mechanic said it is the timing chain and not worth fixing just drive it...

I doubt it is the timing chain. More than likely it is the valves themselves, the seats wear out, and the lifters wear, so eventually the lifters don't pump up as full as they should, so it causes a gap between it and the valve, so it slaps the valve, also the seats wear, so the valve is kinda loose, so that causes a gap between it and the rocker shaft, so you get another slap. If the chain wore out enough to be hitting the block or front cover, you would be having timing issues because it would have to be pretty loose. You may also have a failing oil pump, so it is not suppling the right pressure, which is why you hear it at idle, because under load the pressure goes up and as I said it pumps up the lifter. This guy is a joke if he told you just to drive it till it blows, which would cause significant damage, Then you have to buy a what? use motor for $600 that is no better off than what you got? Then pay someone like this idiot $500 to install it? Right now you could probably rebuild the engine for about $600, and have a brand new fresh motor for your truck. The chain is not too difficult, you can do it in the car, but would be much easier out of it. The head doesn't have to be removed to do it, but you do have to take off the timing cover, which can be a pain, and possibly the water pump, all the engine pulleys, alternator, etc. So thats why I suggested pulling the motor. And, when it is pulled, it would be a great time to freshin it up with new pistons, rings, bearings, have the block done and rebuild the head.
