IF an auto have the fault codes read and it may be a torque converter clutch sensor/ servo unit .---If it is a manual check for air / fluid in the clutch system that is not allowing full travel of the clutch arm to release the clutch plate. hence the input shaft is still spinning and preventing the gear engagement
