If its a cap and rotor ignition, I would replace the distributor, ITS HAPPENNED TO ME~! no rhyme or reason just stops working, or doesnt start next time.. that was a sundance, I would bet on it if I was a betting man, or knew you... hope this helps, have a nice day, and if it starts knocking or ticcking, crankshaft conditioner from any Dodge dealership is the fix (That car has been known to tick and knock.)

If the ignition turns on and dies while driving, you might have a clogged idle air control valve. The valve is located in the throtle body, just below the air intake hose. Locate the idle air control valve, un plug the connector, unscrew it (you will need star screw driver) and next clean it using an electronic contact cleaner spray, I use 3M for that. Next, make sure all cleaning liquid inside is gone (it evaporates quickly) and re assemble it. This should solve your problem once for all.

Check the fuses in the Fuse panel, and if you have an alarm in it disconnect the power wire to the alarm. If the fuses are good and there is no alarm or the alarm is disconnected you need to check your coil and the wiring to the coil itself.

you now need to check for 12 volt power, and signal to the coil, also be sure all you timing marks are correct, if you have no spark, unplug one of the injectors and using an led test light check for injector pulse power across the two terninals while cranking, if you have no injector pulse then you could have a problem with the ignition passlock system, or key decoder
