2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 5.9 with distributor has no spark

Quit going down road, has fuel delivery but no spark. previously has had cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil replaced.checked power to coil 11.7 going in tested with test light on pulse side -did not light test lighthas power coming out but not being grounded. replaced cam position sensor (near hall effect) no change. ohmed wiring to pcm -good. Has engine rpm on scanner and fuel supply ,does this rule out the crank sensor or should I test that before replacing pcm. Or have I missed something

Those distributors get a lot of heat and vibration. Check all wires inside distributor and coil for loose connections.

The crank sensor on this vehicle is a magneto type sensor which reads a toothed gear on the crankshaft. The gear has a blank spot on it that the sensor reads, which tells the ECM when to fire. If the sensor is faulty, which is fairly common for Mopar engines, you won't get any spark. You should definitely try replacing this before the ECM. Just be very careful when pulling the sensor out: if it breaks off, it's time to remove the oil pan to push what's left out of the block. Hope this helps

overheating could be caused by a stuck thermostat or a clogged radiator not firing on #1 plug could be a fouled plug or bad wire or it may be grounding on the block and your coiil may not have been put in at the right mark

SOURCE: no start no spark, no

No spark.the possibility is faulty spark plugs, faulty spark plug to coil pack connections, faulty coil pack itself or faulty crank shaft sensor. But if all this possibilities checked ok/.As you mentioned that injector coils replaced.but spark plugs and coil to spark plugs connections has to be checked. If any of this is checked faulty or short then it can be issue. The crank shaft sensor if its not functioning then the spark will not come up.Also get the starter and starter solenoid checked. If this is faulty then it can also be the cause of no spark. But if this all checked ok and confirmed working then its the fault related to faulty car computer. The pcm/ecm.It is not letting the spark to function. The car computer has to be replaced.
Still start with basics before getting the ecm/pcm replaced.

1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.

2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.

3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.

4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it's a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

What would make my 91 Ford F150 not excalurate win I step on the gas petul going down the road

Probably one of three options: Fuel delivery, out of tune, or transmission problems.

Start with the basics:
  • Has the fuel filter been replaced?
  • Is the air cleaner reasonably clean?
  • Do the spark plugs look okay?
  • Do the distributor cap and rotor need replacing?
If these things check out, then it's time to take it to the mechanic.

2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 5.9 with distributor has no spark or no fuel

Both failures will cause it to not start. How did you determine that you have either no spark or no fuel? Spark issues are usually easy to check and resolve (dist cap, rotor, coil, ignition module, wires, etc.); fuel problems can be more tricky (fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, carb/injector problems, etc.

My 2002 dodge stratus ran hot lost pressure of a hose and want crank after repair

Well you need a few things for an engine to run. Spark , Fuel, and Air..to start. Assuming that the plugs are the correct ones, and all the wires are connected properly & that the distributor cap was installed properly (AND SET IN TIME correctly). I would have to lean towards maybe a warped head. But there a quite a few variables that need to be eliminated before you can really begin to start down the road with a diagnosis. Good Luck

1989 Dodge Ramcharger Engine problems, maybe, now when you crank it in the morning it will only stay cranked for about 2 minutes and kills out, then maybe 15 mins later it will start and go down the road...

If you verify that you have fire, fuel and air to the engine and they are ok then I would check the catalytic converter and the muffler to ensure one of them is not plugged. If the cat gets blocked off then it won't allow fuel into the cyl due to back pressure on the engine.

Dodge van dies while going down road but you can tap distributor& will act right for aminute whats wrong

Dodge had a problem with he distributor bushing wearing out allowing the distributor shaft to wobble.
I have replaced several distributors in dodges for that reason.
If you hold pressure on one side on cap and it runs fine and quits when you release distributor cap the distributor will need to be replaced.

Something has sheared. Is there a pin on the distributor drive gear, are the gears on the cam and dist. shaft perfect / no flat spots at all, is there a keyway or key on the crank or cam gears that has sheared? Must be a weak point that was slipping somewhere.

1998 Dodge 1500 Pickup out of time spark

I would begin by checking 2 things. You can loosen the gas line that to the engine and turn the key on and see if the fuel pump is pumping gas to the engine. If it does, I would remove a spark plug wire and check to see if you have any fire to the spark plugs. If it has fuel and fire. I would check my timing.
