Question about 1987 Nissan Pathfinder
Engine starts but then stalls, if pedal is pumped, it will run but rough. When then fuel return line is removed from the fuel injection pressure regulator, it starts and runs and will rev although I've got another tube on it and fuel is draining in a container. Do you think the problem may be with the regulator (too much pressure and flooding it while if the lines off drops the pressure?) or one of the injectors? Thanks
Generally speaking, too much pressure should not cause any problems. The injectors should be able to open and close. Its possible there is a blockage in the return line to the tank and that is causing the pressure or flow in the main line to drop but I doubt it.
Have you checked pressure with a gauge yet ?

the 2001 altima is what i have and I had the same problem as you. turned out to be a bad head gasket factory used cheap ones for a few years before they found the problem. one way to test this is to get a can of carborator cleaner and spray it around the area where the head meets the block under the intake problem should be around the 4th cylinder or close to driver side. if the head gasket is bad the rough idle will smooth out while you are spraying the head.
