Battery dead. Why doesn't key turn door lock or open trunk?

Your keys should still manually unlock/open both...your remote signal will not be picked up as Battery is sure to check connections for dirt/corrosion/or loose before buying a battery...Hope this helps.

Power lock remote on 2007 forenza not working

Check the light on the remote fob. Does it light up when you press the button? It will light for only a part of a second.
Sometimes the transmitter stops working for no reason and there is no repair, you have to buy a new remote fob, or in the case of some vehicles, you have to buy a new key and have the agents activate the key, then you can activate the remote with a special procedure.

My truck wont start i dont know whats wrong with it but it cranks over but wont start

Have the Pick up coil tested. Take it in or try the following.
A pick-up coil, technically known as a stator, provides a low-voltage digital on-off signal to the ignition control module where it is interpreted as an RPM signal, also called PIP or profile ignition pick-up. The ignition module uses that info to decide when to fire the ignition coil. This signal from the pick-up is most likely a ground signal, but I suppose some systems might switch the positive on and off. You will have to use a special low-voltage test light(a regular 12 volt test light will not do), find the signal output wire from the pick-up, and measure the output while the engine is being cranked. You should see an on-off pulse indicated by the light blinking on and off. Remember, this is providing the stator has it's power supply and ground needed to operate, and that the distributor is turning as needed while the engine is being cranked.

Oreilly Automotive stores have a little device the picks up a signal from a remote. Maybe your local parts store will have one. This will verify that your key F.O.B. is working. After that....fuses or possibly a frequency switch in the key FOB got bumped when you changed batteries. Otherwise, catastrophic failure....sorry.

Remote entry system on 2002 GMC truck stopped functioning. remotes are transmitting, still problem. Any suggestions

my first thought was batteries in the remotes. how do you know they are still transmitting? or if they are, if they have sufficient power to broadcast the signal that it can be picked up by the receiver? if you can access the bcm, i'd look for that data. once that is determined, then it's a matter of tracing backwards until the problem is found. personally, i prefer to start at the end (in this case the actuators in the doors) and work backwards. the most common problem in any electrical malfunction is loss of ground. power second, and failed hard parts third.

Car wont start some times displays key with a slash

its probably a scircuity problem most likely because it seem with those cars you need the controller in or close to you for the car to start so maybe the ecu or pcm isnt picking up the signal or maybe change the battery on the remote?

Need to program my garage door to my escalade but dont know how? lost the garage remote!

Most of these programs require a remote. The steps to this require you to push remote button at the same time as the car button so the car can pick up on the signal. With out the remote you cannot program the car buttons.

1999 honda Prelude

I think you should recheck the battery installation, if there is no fault then the remote is defective or the cars receiver that picks up the signal, it is more likely that that remote is the culprit.
