What is the fuel pressure supposed to be

the 3.3L engine fuel system operates at 55 psi (379 kPa). With the engine idling and the manifold vacuum applied to the regulator, the system operates at approximately 46 psi (317 kPa). Without vacuum applied to the regulator, the 3.5L engine fuel system operates at 48 psi (331 kPa). With the engine idling and the manifold vacuum applied to the regulator, the system operates at approximately 39 psi (269 kPa).---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I replaced my 97 s10's fuel pump checked the fuses &checked the relay & reset my computer changed my fuel filter disconected my security system & still can't get my fuel pump to co

The oil pressure sending unit could be bad. If your oil pressure gets below 7psi than it shuts off all power going to the fuel pump. It is screwed into the engine block just to the right of the distributor.

Turns over will not start. have alread changed the spark plugs dis. cap and rotor. Could it be th coil? or a fuel system problem?

First check for spark at any of the sparkplugs. If you have spark then it is more then likely the fuel pump. You can'nt check the fuel pressure unless it is running. The fuel pressure is suppose to be 38-44 with the engine running.

Installed new fuel pump truck will not stay running at all

I don't suppose that maybe the problem is not a fuel pressure problem? 4 fuel pumps is pretty radical. Did you measure the fuel pressure at the fuel rail? It would have been much easier to check the fuel pressure BEFORE replacing the FIRST one. Have you checked to see if there is any spark at the spark plugs when it will not start?
The symptom sounds a lot like a bad crankshaft position (CKP) sensor to me.

Had friend put OBD diagnostics to it and error code indicated fuel pump ????? No code indicates replacing any part . Indicates testing ! pressure and flow testing , voltage drop testing the electrical circuit etc... There is a check valve in the fuel pump assembly that is suppose to keep pressure in the fuel lines an fuel rail . When the check valve goes bad allows fuel to drain back into the tank. Try turn the key on an off a few times to build up pressure . The PCM energizes the fuel pump relay for two seconds at key on .

Hi im thinking there is a fuel pressure problem, this could be the regulator of the injection line. this is supposed to keep pressure in the fuel system by closing when the engine is turned off. in there line as well is a sensor for the ecu, this tells the ecu the fuel pressure so it can start or open more for more fuel into the system i think one or both of these has failed, if it fails the fuel by gravity will go back to the tank.

sounds like the pass-lock sensor is shutting the injectors off. if vehicle is trying to run but shuts off quickly and not stumbling like your running out of gas then most likely not fuel pressure problem but a security issue with the key or sensor.
