Question about Ford Taurus
Often this problem is a result of the loss of signal from the Brake switch on the brake pedal lever. It is common and if you observe the Brake lights, you will find they do not work. In an effort to prevent Runaway cars, the Gear shifter is locked in Park until your foot is on the Brake pedal.
When the switch on the Brake pedal lever is hit by the drivers feet, it can be knocked out of place or broken. Look under the dash at this part and see what you need to do.
