Catalytic converter-Can it be cleaned if I can get it off-if I cut it off and put a used one on or clean it, how do I correctly put it back on

I assume your question about "cleaning" your converter, because, you think it's dirty? Lost power? more than likely blocked than dirty. That being the case, you can't clean or unblock a converter. Time for a replacement unit. If your handy with a welder, have a go? If not, your local exhaust shop should steer you in the right direction as far as matching your unit, ie substructure, porcelan or metal and std's obd3 etc... cheers

I have a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L. If the catalystic converter is beginning to go, what noise if any, will I hear.

The catalytic converter will sound like it's full of rocks if the core has broken apart.Thump it with a rubber mallet(or your hand IF IT's COLD),should be pretty obvious.

In a 1996 pontiac sunfire there are 2 oxygen sensors .. one on top.. one on bottom of engine. i need to know where exactly they are located and how easily they are accessed

Oxygen sensors are always located in the exhaust system. The top one you refer to is likely on the exhaust manifold, or just after on the exhaust pipe, but before the catalytic converter. If you have a v-6 there may be one on each bank of the block in the exhaust manifolds. Then, there is also an O2 sensor located in exhaust, after the catalytic converter, to monitor efficiency of the converter.
Both should be fairly easy to access. Good luck.

I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. I have no idea whats wrong with it. Several months ago it started acting up; if I accelerate too much, the engine shuts off, car dies.also, I notice it starts to five out...

have you checked your fuel pump and relays for fuel system? AND , have you had the obd codes run yet? That sounds like the places to start_fuel system/delivery. Oxygen sensorswould be my next shot. maybe one wasnt replaced or came loose during new cat install. have them double chk that for you.

2002 Sunfire TCC Solenoid replacement

hi..the transaxle converter clutch . tcc. uses a solenoid -operated valve located in the automatic transaxle to mechanically couple the engine flywheel to the output shaft of the transmission through the torque converter.that reduces the slippage loss in the converter.reducing emissions.but check the vss first.which is called the vehicle speed sensor.they both work together .if the vss is not working right it wont call on the tcc.
check this out..
thank u..
