Question about 2004 Dodge Neon
I am having a p0340 and a p0344 code coming on and the check engine light is on. The car is maknig a jerking sensation when driving. Also, the car is not accelerating like it use to and the driving conditions are poor. P0340 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit P0344 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent You'll need to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor and might as well replace the crankshaft sensor as well. With these codes and the symptoms you describe this should clear the problem for you. Also check the wiring harness around both sensors to make sure there are no issues. Maje sure no insulation is cut or missing along the entire run of the associated wiring. I have replace both sensors and checked my wires and the problem is still there??
I believe that the splice for the cam sensor is about 8 inches back in the harness. Power to the cam supplies several sensors. I have fixed a few that the splice was bad, There is very little room to work in to get to the splice, but it's not impossible to fix.

actually there is a magnet. Its right behind the cam sensor. Had to replace it myself. just make sure you get the sensor from the dealer as well. You wont find the magnet anywhere but the dealer so you mine as well buy both at once.

That makes the computor think the timing is off. Replace the sensor and see if that does it. You will then have to have the code cleared (erased) or the light will come back on/stay on.
