Question about Chevrolet Chevy
I was working in my garage and my wife was coming and going. I heard the car start up and looked at it but my wife was not in it. I asked her where she was going. Nowhere she said. I check the ignition and there was no key in it but it was running. I put in my key and turned it then moved it back to off and the engine stopped.
I've had this happen. The car had an after market remote start installed. In my experience these only last around 5 years before they start messing up. Same with the antitheft devices. When I run across them , I pull them out. My guess would be that it was receiving RF signals ( from somewhere else, we didn't have the fob) to start it or it was just starting to die. I always recommend factory installs because they last 2 to 4 times longer.

You may need a new ECM/computer. This model car is known for water leaking into the ECM from your air box. The drain hole in the bottom of the box gets clogged and after a while, your ECM gets flooded, because the water has no place to go, but onto your ECM, frying vitale circuits. Check your passenger side floor by the feet to see if its wet.

I am intrigued, I used to have a similar vehicle and there was a button on the steering column that when press with ignition key in the aux position and a little pressure to take key out allowed it to turn all the way.
It is a little difficult as you have to twist it back whilst pressing the button! But it should work.
Hope this FixYa's problem?

SOURCE: engine won't stop running
First of all;
1- If your engine fuel “gas" accelerator linkages not binding or wedges between
other parts of frame or engine!!!
Look for the above problem first, then if it's OK.
2- Your car engine timing could be ON ****** NOT on advance....
Timing should be always on advance (which is the correct
situations" """ Timing in advance start from "0”, "4" "6" ,"8",
IN ****** start from "0”, "4”, etc.
If you have improper TIMING (especially in ******) you'll have
mostly very high temperature most of the time, which will
eventually damage your engine AND it's (the temperature)
is a KILLER for your Automatic
(If your transmission is) transmission.
I hope I helped you.
