You have either a leak in a heater hose or a leak in the hearer core. Fill the radiator and turn the engine on. Let get up to operating temperature. Now you should be able to see the leak. You can take it from there. If it is the heater core, you will probably want to let a mechanic replaoe that.

I am thinking blown head gasket either as the initial cause or because of the overheating. do a compression test on cylinders to rule out blown headgasket, check water pump by leaving cap off and watching flow of cooling system be safe at all times though check waterpump weep hole for leaks also check thermostat operation make sure both upper and lower radiator hoses are equally warm and one of them is not cold which usually means thermostat is stuck in closed position.

did you have the heads worked at a machine shop (pressure tested, valves seals replaced and ground , and milled )? also how many mies are on the engine? the ticking noise very well could be timing chain noise. as for the overheating did you check the water pump to make sure your getting proper circulation. you can test it by removing one heater hose from the intake then start the engine. if the pump is good then water should spray out of the hose if the pump is weak then the water may trickle out.

Before throwing a waterpump at it, try a thermostat. If that sticks shut you'll get no circulation and overheating. A way to test, pull thermostat and TEMPORARILY run it without thermostat.I stress temporarily and just for test. You should see water circulating through radiator then. If not then you know waterpump is bad.

No! The Pro was not a pro. At a guess, the old gasket wasn't cleaned away. But it could be a faulty water pump too! Either way, it needs to be repaired. Just one overheating can fry an engine! So be rather careful not to invest in a dead horse. If you do a compression test, this will tell the tale.

Sorry, not the thermostat. Check the coolant level and refill and locate the leak. I suspect the waterpump, make sure the belt is turning the waterpump. Do not drive an overheating engine.

-usually a valve tick- check oil level, oil pressure--if due for oil change flush engine sludge may be hindering oil flow thru head area--other reasons oil pressure bad, head oil starved --lifter damaged or collapsed--rocker out of adjustment, bent valve/push rod==waterpump noise/ bearing /a worn or frayed belt --

I would replace the Thermostat and see if that will not Stop this. It is Coming from the Overflow Tank. It is getting a Little Warm during Driving and the Extra Coolant that will Build up Preassure needs somewhere to go So, It sends it to the Overflow Reservoir and it Seeps out the Overflow Outlet. This is Pretty Common though and Really not that Big of a Deal as long as you do not loose too Much. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
