Question about 1998 Ford Escort
A few months ago my fuel filter and the fuel pump were changed and the person who changed it didn't properly re-attach the fuel line and I started spilling fuel on the road. I re-attached the line and it stopped leaking. Around the same time my car started sputtering and dying if the rpms drop below 1000. I am unsure if they are related but I cannot keep my car running at a stop sign or stop light without keeping my foot on the gas (and my other on the brake to keep from moving.) Are they related and how can I fix it?
I doubt the two problems are related.
The computer uses an idle speed control valve to regulate idle speed. The valve controls the amount of air entering the intake.
You should have a check engine light on and also a stored trouble code for the valve. It could also be a problem with the throttle plate in the throttle body.
