1995 1500cc Hyundai Accent seems have a fuel starvation problem.

The engine stalls (but still runs) under acceleration and revs remain above 15,000 rpm when the clutch pedal is depressed. I have replaced both the fuel pump and filter recently but no change to problem which indicates other causes. The previous fuel when flushed in reverse did not show excessive dirt in fuel. sounds like my problems, and one other in this post - in addition my fuel gauge quit and I have trouble filling with gas as the hose keeps popping out - these things all started around the same time - really would like some solutions !!! - etcsaltsprin

two mechanics did - changed fuel filter, checked spark plugs and O2 sensor - it seems my car and the computers don't play well together.

Yes, it has taken this long, but my car is finally running like a top. It seems there was a hole in some hose, or connection, which was letting dirt (lots of it) into the fuel tank. They replaced the tank, and voila, everything now works - the car, the fuel gauge, filling and all. (By the way, somewhere along the line one of the "mechanics" hack-sawed a "V" in my exhaust system - evidently checking something-or-other in an otherwise sound pipe. So another guy fixed that for me... ) ;-) Thanks for all the advice.

    1. The fuel pump was changed after receiving bad advice.

    2. Sorry for the typo I actually meant 1,500 rpm.

    3. I did attempt to scan for problem codes (i.e. CHECK ENGINE) but the plug in point seems dead.

    4. I however removed the fuel tank and cleaned it as the fuel appeared to be murky in appearance (which I later discovered to be fine dust particles). Fuel filter was changed and problem seams to be solved.

    5. What I can't understand is how-come the engine revs remain at 1,500 rpm with a partially blocked fuel filter. Is it because the computer is compensating for the reduced fuel flow?

Your gas tank must of been crushed,in some kind of offroad incident because if you can't fill it up the filler tube must be kinked.Or the pollution system is faulty such as the purge valve or vapor canister.

Hi, the name is Monica I have a 2008 accent. When I initially start my car it seems fine, in park or neutral I punch the pedal and the engines revs perfectly. The problem comes after the engine warms up...

Hello Monica.,Take it to your local garage and ask them to check out the onboard computer.
You can do it yourself often. Just disconnect your battery for 2 mins and then reconnect.. If the same.. the garage.,

good luck

Hyundai accent idles fine, no power on acceleration but will pick up revs if accelerated gently. new pcv valve, resealed valve cover gasket. no engine warning light. new fuel filter, petrol pump pre filter...

Check and make sure the catalic converter is not blocked, its a common problem on accents.

Whats alot of carbon, if it reaaly bad you might want to remove intake manifold and clean it, or if its not to bad run engine at 1500 revs and spray nulon carby cleaner in slowly to clean it out.

Fiesta revs struggling

ive seen transmissions cause this in high-end luxery cars... but that being said..

-sounds like your fuel filter is clogged. (i just shake mine out and run carb cleaner in it, which i do every 15,000 miles)
-could also be fuel pump
-loose battery terminal
-bad alternator
-clogged MAF sensor

My 98 Tahoe is running rough at times. The problem: The engine seems to shudder briefly in third gear (at about 30-40 mph) after I accelerate (to get on the freeway for instance). The engine runs fine...

Sounds like a solenoid piston seal. You can have it replaced, but they will want to sell you the whole package. Several hundred dollars. Try some transmission additive first $10.00. Tranx, Lucas these are both good. they recondition the seals in the transmission.

Car trouble

i believe you have a weak fuel pump, could be from a faulty fuel filter.
