The car came to me with a terrible idle and sometimes stalled. I replaced all 6 injectors, all 6 plugs and wires and finally I found the problem when I fixed the pegged temp gauge sensor.
Moving on to the exhaust and muffler that was riddled with holes, replacing it has given it a very rough start. Sometimes it just "whines", stutters and dies. This happens much more when its hot, and even recently died completely in a drive through until it cooled. No check engine light. No codes.
The fan behind the radiator kicked in at 215 degrees, so I figure the car knows what temperature it is. I'm just learning my way around under the hood, so please keep the help novice in terms. I know where my TPS and MAF sensors are, so I can check them if told how.
Hi i have a problem with a VW POLO (6N1) -95 mod, that will not idle .. have cleaned carburetor .. Exchanges: 1 advantages accessories -2. Lambda - 3.trykkregulator - 4 plugs with wires .. If it's surging, make sure your radiator is full. Do a tune up, plugs, wires, etc. Put some fuel injector cleaner in your fuel tank. On a cold start the vehicle compensates for being cold by adding fuel. Once it warms up the computer tells it to quit adding extra fuel. If it is a bad sensor of sorts, check engine light should come on.
First thing I would look for is a disturbed vacuum line which will cause rough idle. When replacing coil packs, you have to remove covers, etc. so when vacuum lines get old and dry, even moving one slightly can cause cracking, so look for loose or cracked vacuum lines around where you were working on engine. It may just be loose hose. Good luck
It is hardly ever the spark plug or only the spark plug - generally for some reason there is a weak or lost spark and the reason must be found and rectified by carefully checking and then replacing any components found to be edfective - plug wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor (if fitted), wiring, connections and could conceivably even be the ECU. Perhaps the misfire is due to injector trouble...
Sometimes a fault with persist even after it has been "cured" until the fault code is erased with diagnostic equipment.
Check for any trouble codes in the engine computer, and have the fuel pressure tested. If it is throttle body injection. observe the spray pattern of the injector when it pulses. You should see a cone pattern of the fuel spraying down into the intake. If it drips, or appears anemic, the injector might be partially clogged. Try some injector cleaner in the gas tank.
sounds like a bad idle air control valve, but if its misfiring thats another ball game, then you may have a bad spark plug or plug wire.when was the last time this car was tuned? if its been a while then you may what to start with a complete tune up, also have the fuel preasure check as this would also cause this problem but if it rides fine and only runs rough at idle then its not the pump.now we are back at a tune up.
look at spark plug 6 see if it is foul out with oil. when you first start you car up and it smokes blue you have leaking valve seals and stop up oil return holes.if all is good .check 6 injector make sure its getting power.
