2006 pt cruiser oil light

Recently had my blown head gasket fixed on my 2006 pt cruiser and sometimes when I come to a stop light the oil light will flicker on and off but will disappear once I start back driving. Took it to the shop said oil pressure sending switch needs to be replce. So got it replaced but oil light will still come on sometimes when I crank the car. Do anyone have any soltions to this problem?

It's OK that oil light flickers or comes on while starting. It turns off when oil pressure comes up to normal. That won't happen till car is running.

SOURCE: oil light flicker on and off on 2006 pt cruiser

There is a possibility that the oil pressure sensor wire located on the engine block is either incorrectly fitted or the wire is off completely and touches an earth (negative) source, causing your warning light to occasionally flicker

My 2005 PT cruiser turbo has just started heavy white smoke when idling. Does not happen all the time and appears to run rough when it does

Hi Barbra:
1) I'd be suspicious of a bad head gasket with a possible leak between a cylinder and the water jacket.
If fumes smell like coolant that would be a confirming hint.
Check the oil (dipstick) and see if it has a milky colour or if there is any water visible. If the head gasket problem is only as in 1) above, it should be just oil.
- Temporary fix attempt????? - add aluminum sealant to coolant.
- Permanaent fix (expensive) - Off to the repair shop for a new head gasket.
Hope this helps.

Oil light

In most cases the flickering light means the oil pressure is dropping below 5psi. The actual problem could be a faulty pressure switch, or the engine could really have low oil pressure. And that would mean lower engine damage with the bearings or other parts.

Sounds like a fuse problem. Find the fuse box for the lights and replace the one that is for head &tail lights

when the water mixes with the oil , if you don't fix it right away , you can warp the head or crack the head or engine block.

2001 pt cruiser over heating wired fan direct fan works but car still over heats replaced thermostat temp. sensor fuses etc...

Sounds like the engine head gasket needs to be replaced. The gasket has deteriated from the engine cylinder and coolant passage and overheating the coolant. Sometimes you will see coolant mixed with engine oil, or milky solution on the oil dipstick

My pt cruiser 06 2.8 turbo started leaking oil?

OK, anytime oil gets into the cooling system or vice versa, there's a strong possibility that there is a leak at the head gasket.

Could have to do with overspeeding the engine.

The cooling system can get up to 14 to 16 psi, enough to burst into the oil lines which run next to the cooling lines in the head and block.

If it's spilling on the front driver's side of the car, then you have some serious problems with this engine.

Blown head gasket or cracked head. Need to get the head off and have it checked for cracks at a machine shop.

Overheating engine

Check your oil dipstick for coolant, or a mucky substance. Your symptoms sound like a blown head gasket.
