no just lower the level or be quick about plugging in the new sensor, that is what I do, u may lose a cup of coolant but much less hassle than draining the radiator.

Hello mparmijoe: My name is Roger and I will answer for you. You will find the knock sensor at the rear of the engine between the right side of the engine block and the transmission case. SOURCE: How to clean O2 sensor on a 2007 Pontiac G6?

O2 sensor are located before and after Catalytic Converter ( exhaust system of your car). If you car's engine is 4 cyl you have 2 O2 sensors and if you car's engine is 6 cyl then you have 4 O2 sensors ( for each bank, 2 for left bank and 2 for right bank). under the intake plentium right in the middle of the valley between the heads. bad for wires getting corroded and rusted. it holds water in the knock sensor holes, you can buy the harness

Off of the main engine harness in front of the engine, you'll find a lead that goes to the coolant temp sensor, and just after that a little lower towards the driver's side you'll find the Knock sensor lead.ac21663_1.jpg

THE 2.2L ENGINE CAMSHAFT SENSOR LOCATED BACKSIDE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK TO THE LEFT OF THE KNOCK SENSOR. THE 2.4L ENGINE CAMSHAFT SENSOR LOCATED ON FRONT CAMSHAFT HOUSING TOP COVER LOOK DOWN ON TOP COVER WHERE IT SAYS 2.4L TWIN .SENSOR BELOW T ON TWIN ON TOP COVER.

Code 300 and 330 on 2001 Pontiac Grand Am


po330 is a bad knock sensor, the sensor will cause, sluggish engine, poor acceleration, poor fuel economy. the signal is sent to pcm and the timing is retarded to compensate for the severe detonition. on 4 cylinder models, the knock sensor is located on the rear firewall side of the engine block, below exhaust manifold.on v6 models , the sensor is located on the front radiator side of engine block above the oil filter.
