Interior lights staying on in 93 jeep grand cherokee

  • Patrick Miller May 11, 2010

Is there a Vehicle Information Center? And does it show a door open? Be aware there are two overide switches for the dome lights. One is on the dash lite dimmer and the other is part of the very rear dome lite. Just push on the lite lense and you should here and feel it click. The over head map lites also have overrides. The 93 Gr Cher doesn't use a Body Computer to control the Dome lites so if one of those switches doesn't resolve it you may just have a shorted circuit.

Could be a door sensor switch. Try testing continuity on each with button pressed. Hope this helps!

Check the door jam switch or the fuse, you could have a short or the switch needs to be replaced....

1996 jeep grand cherokee no automatic interior lights

1. If you have the light switch in the wrong mode the lights will not operate when you open the door.

2. If the interior lights do not operate at all (ie you cannot switch them on and off manually)then you need to check the fuse for the interior lights.

3. When set to the correct mode, the interior lights will operate from a door operated switch so if the switch has failed the lights will either stay on or not operate at all when you open and close the door. Eventually these door switches fail with repeated use and need to be replaced. (Consider how many times the small door switch has been operated since 1996).

1997 jeep grand cherokee interior light fuse. Where is it so I can take it out because my interior lights are staying on and going to drain my battery.

Hey there,
Sounds like you may have a bad switch at the door or in the dash on-off switch.
You could also remove the light bulb for a quickie, otherwise the interior light fuse should be in the fuse box: The older vehicles it was under the left side of the dash at the drivers seat (interior of car). Newer vehicles, it would be (typically) in the engine compartment near the drivers side fender wall.
Best regards

1996 jeep grand cherokee, interior lights wn't shutoff

Have you tried checking the dimmer switch for your instrument panel? I believe if the switch is slid all the way up it will cause the interior lights to stay on. Hope this helps.
