Question about 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Open Question

I have a 2001 impala. After putting in a ac compressor bypass pulley the car started running weird. It was loping really bad at idle and would eventually die. When I drive it if I let off the gas to coast then it dies. I checked every sensor and replaced the valves that would cause this problem. None of which worked. I had my father in law hook it up to the computer at his shop. The code it gave was for the mass air flow sensor. We tried 3 different sensors and none worked. We reset the system and checked it again and it said the mass air flow sensor still. I've tried hollowing out the catalytic converter, I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator and I still have the problem. I'm clueless.

SOURCE: 1996 s10 2.2 engine starts but idles rough and will not rev up.

Hi! You must be frustrated by now! your code is marking that the O2 sensor is bad in bank 1. Did you replace the O2 sensor that is located  before the catalytic converter?  The S10 has an O2 sensor specially made for that cat. its about 30$ That would explain for your blackened spark plugs; your pc on the car is asking for more fuel. GOOD LUCK!!

a car that idles rough and clears up is the sure sign of an o2 sensor shorted this may not give a code if the short in the sensor is bad the computer will eliminate its input to protect itself

2001 impala 3.8 liter belt size to bypass AC unit

You can also remove the a/c compressor and install a bypass pulley in its place. You can still use the standard belt this way, just run it to the bypass pulley instead of the a/c compressor. RockAuto has them at the link.

If the clutch is ok then you don't need to do anything, just don't turn on the ac, other than that you can sometimes bypass by using a smaller belt, just be careful you run all pulleys the right way, the job to remove and replace the new compressor should only take 2 hours

Loping idle 1995 honda accord occurs when ac is on for a few minutes seems like the compressor clutch is engaging and disengaging it is a nuisance and the air doesnt blow as cold

bad compressor? (seizing) or
or engine is so weak, at idle (lean), that it cant run your compressor.
the reason for the lope is the ECU idle speed controls going crazy.
id say, the ISC is a victim here.

How to bypass the air condtioning

Not really. I am not aware of that model being sold without ac.
So there would not be a belt and idler pulley used in place of the compressor.
The easiest way to fix it is to get a used compressor and put it on. You don't have to charge the ac for the pulley to work.

Belt broke on 2000 chrylser convertible ac compressor froze i need diagram to show how to bypass it

I don't think you can bypass the compressor.
Chrysler would have to build a model without ac and as far as I know they all have ac.
When they do have an engine without ac they usually have an idler pulley to take the place of the compressor.
Re-routing the belt runs the risk of turning the alternator or water pump in the wrong direction.

Need to replace serpentine belt without ac on a 2007 chev impala ac compressor bad need to bypass. can this be done

As far as I know there is no idler by-pass pulley for that car available yet..So,no.
However the compressor may be ok. If the A.C. is off the compressor doesn't spin, the only
moving part is the pulley on the end, and it's bearing. I suspect it is that outer bearing that is bad,
not the whole compressor.
A good shop can pull that bearing and install a new one (A GOOD shop could do it
in the car and not even loose the freon!)
Hope this sheds some light.

Ac compressor going out on 2000 chevy impala. can you bypass w a smaller size serpentine belt?

don't believe there is a way if it's a 3.8. However ,just replacing the bearing on the compressor in not a big job, even if the compressor is bad the pulley will still spin.If the compressor itself is bad just unplug it.

On a 2001 saab 93 turbo can can you bypass the ac compressor or is there a bypass pulley

You can bypass both the AC compressor and the middle serpentine idler pulley with a 6PK1790. The middle pulley is bypassed by running the belt straight line from the upper rear serpentine idler straight to the power steering pulley, then over the water pump (the smooth pulley powered by the back side of the belt) and down to the engine drive pulley (harmonic balancer), bypassing the AC compressor) This works fine. On 9.5 models, the same basic idea, but a slightly different sized belt.
