How do you fix a freon leak at the compressor connection on a 01 saturn l300?

If the leak is just the compressor gasket,
you have a shop recover the frigerant, make the
repair,pull a vacuum & recharge
Has to be leak tested first to find all issues

Sounds like a water pump or radiator hose. Need to see exactly where the leak is coming from to confirm which.

SOURCE: Freon leak under dashboard

The leak is the evaporator which is in the dash. The complete dash has to come out to remove the hvac plenum to remove the evaporator. It is about a 7 to 10 hour job.The factory evap.core is about $475 and what ever the labor rate is for the repair shop.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: ac freon leak at hoses connecting to compressor

The seals are relatively easy to replace, but the system must have the freon pumped out and captured before any such work is performed. Venting to atmosphere will get you a stiff fine if caught (at least in the USA). Hope this helps!

How to change a/c compressor

This is actually a relatively easy fix. First you need to get a vacuum pump to remove the freon currently in your system it\'s illegal to release it in the atmosphere. You can rent the pump and hoses at autozone for 300$ which is completely refundable once you return it.

1. Vacuum the a/c system completely

2. Remove your serpentine belt

3. Remove the hose and electrical connector from your ac compressor.

4. remove the bolts connecting the a/c compressor to the bracket (I think there are only three)

and that\'s all you need to do to remove your compressor

reverse the process to install your new one but make sure its filled with the proper ammount and type of a/c oil. Vacuum the a/c system again because it works better with negative pressure. Then refill it with the correct ammount of r-134a freon I\'d suggest use a can freon with uv dye so you can check for leaks in your system using a black light. If there is a leak you\'ll need to vacuum your system again and replace the defective part and fill it back up with freon. I hope this helps good luck a/c systems can be tricky.

Blowing out hot air in my air conditioner for saturn L300 2005

I know how to do this personally, but instead of writing it up, here is a link to someone else's write up....

One thing to keep in mind... If you try this and the gauge reads zero, re-check your connections. And if it still reads zero, you may have a leak in the system. Don't waste your time and $$ by trying to use the kit. You can either try the UV leak detector kit and proceed accordingly, or take your rig to a shop and let them know that you think that there is a leak.

You can find the recharge kits in almost any auto parts store. And no, I don't have a preference on brands. I think the differences will be barely perceptible so I have never compared them. So, you don't necessarily need the most expensive. In fact, I just did a quick search for a kit comparison on the web and I didn't immediately find one.

I have remnants of 2 different brands from 2 different car recharges. Jeep vs Civic = dragon fruit vs cherries. No comparison. But, both kits worked appropriately in either vehicle for years on one recharge.

Good luck!!

My air conditioner on my 2003 Saturn Vue is not blowing cold air. A friend looked at it an says there is a leak. How do you repair a leak?

with a/c you usually have to replace the part that is leaking.hose,condensor,evaporator.or if its a seal, seal replacement, schrader valve etc.this needs to be done at a shop that does a/c work as the system will need to be evacuated, repaired, vacumed, recharged, proper oil installed and rechecked for leaks, and checked for proper operation.

AC not working in 98 Saturn SL2

Did it gradually get warmer over the years or just recently. If it just happened then you could have a leak in the system or a compressor that died. Pressure test the system and verify that the compressor is working. You may get lucky and just need a recharge but more than likely you have a leak somewhere in the system.

2003 Saturn L300 Air Conditioner Does Not Blow Cold Air

I worked at saturn dealer for 18yrs.Those auto hvac heads are a weak link on the L-Series.But I have to say the BCM's are totally junk!! But if it was me I would go with the BCM because you can get a used HVAC head from junk yard but the BCM has to be new because it has to be flashed. If It was me I would try to get a used hvac control from salvage yard. Also yo might want to get a 2nd opinion because those L-Series cars are all bad for Compressor concerns.Hope this helps
