The battery is not charging and is bringing up codes P0621 and P0622 indicating a generator field circuit problem. Is this fixable? What do I do?

The alternator is fielded/grounded by the PCM. You need wiring schematics. Check continuity between the alternator and PCM for the field wire. If it is good, the PCM has lost the ground for the alternator(if not, fix or run a new wire). You can fix it two ways. First replace the PCM and have it programmed to the car. This cost money and it will turn the battery light off. Second, is to cut the field wire close( give yourself room to work) to the alternator, add wire to it and ground it to the engine(making sure the engine has a ground strap to the body). This may or may not turn the battery light off. But it will charge the battery.

I have an 2002 Cavalier Z24. I recently brought it in for repairs. The Technician replaced the ECM/PCM and it's still acting the same way....the alternator just won't charge the battery. it's a new battery...

Hey Joe , The first thing to do would be check for battery voltage on the heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator , if there is no voltage here there is a open circuit ! Which means the fusible link fried . This wire comes from the starter ! This charging system is controlled by the PCM , but they are rarely the problem . Do you have the charge indicator lit on the dash ? Do you have a check engine light on ? This system can set DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes !

P0622 and P0621 codes and batterys not charging on a 2007 chevy C4500

The codes are for two different circuits that involve the alternator and the computer. One is for the field circuit and the other is the lamp indicator or gauge circuit. The PCM controls the voltage regulator inside the alternator.
You would need to take it to a shop that has the books, or buy a used copy of the GM shop manual to get the test procedures for both codes.
The problem could be in the wiring harness, or the computer.
