check your on and off button at the steering wheel.
use a multi-meter set in the ohm postion and see if there is conectivity as you push each button. you will have to take the button off the steering wheel but it will take
just a few minites. while your at it you can check the right side also.
the set-resume-coast.

The clockspring is located behind the steering wheel. You have to remove the steering wheel in order to access the clockspring. MAKE SURE that the steering wheel is straight ahead before you remove it.

With the car turned off and the battery disconnected, root around under the dash and find the wiring harness that comes down from the steering column. You may have to remove a dash panel or two to get at it. It should be connected to the car's main wiring harness with a plug of some sort. Disconnect the plug.

Using a multi-meter set to test continuity, test pairs of pins in the connector from the steering column, pressing the CC switch with each pair, until you find the pair that come from the CC switch.

Isolate the wires for these two pins behind the plug and scrape away a tiny bit of insulation with a knife blade, being careful not to cut through the wire. Test the wire pair again to be sure you've got the CC switch wires.

Cut the wires, leaving several inches of wire above the plug to work with. Using a good quality crimp connector (or soldering, if you know how and have the equipment), connect the two wires you just cut loose (the two coming from the plug, not the steering column).

Make sure there are no bare wires *anywhere* when you're done. Cover everything with heat shrink tubing or electrical tape, then use a tie-wrap to bind all the wires together again. Return the wiring harness to where you found it and re-install any dash panels you had to remove.

Reconnect the battery and go for a drive. The CC switch will be totally out of the circuit, but your CC should be permanently turned on.

Now here's the fun part. You'll have an extra momentary-contact switch on your steering wheel that's not doing anything. Just think of the possibilities... You could use it for an auxiliary air horn like on a semi-truck, or you could wire it into your brake lights so you could screw with tail-gaters without actually stepping on the brakes. Look for the switch somewhere on your brake pedal assembly and add two wires from the old CC switch to the contacts on the brake pedal switch.

The cruise control resume/accel switch is an input to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM detects a voltage signal on the cruise control resume/accel switch signal circuit when the switch is applied. This DTC sets if the PCM senses voltage on the cruise control resume/accel switch signal circuit for longer than 90 seconds.
Cruise Control Indicator Inoperative (4.2L)
Turn OFF the ignition.
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With the scan tool, Command the Cruise Control Lamp Test parameter ON, in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) Output Controls.

Your problem is not a fuse if just the right front isn't working , same for all indicators .
Turn Signal Lamps
The TURN fuse in the fuse block - I/P provides ignition positive voltage to the turn signal relay. The turn signal lamps may only be activated with the ignition switch in the ON position. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left or right position, current flow is from the turn signal relay output to the turn signal switch assembly. The turn signal relay sends an ON-OFF voltage signal to either the left or right turn signals and their instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator through the turn signal switch.

an it's not a bad relay , if there is no B+ voltage at the lamp you have an open circuit . Which fuse is for cruise control in 2003 ford f150


The fuses for the speed control from the factory are :
Engine Compartment fuse panel #7,
Cab fuse panel Fuses #15, #13, #5

The fuse that goes to the recall part is Fuse #13, 20A

The recall is 05S28. Description: Speed Control Deactivation Switch.
The part number for the recall is : 1L1Z-9F924-AA
The part has a fuse inline that is marked as non serviceable, but 1 revision I saw, it was just an ATM fuse under tape. Not sure if this is the final revision that was used on your truck ( or should have been used ).


The self test for the Cruise Control ( for 00-03 MY, with the CC light on the cluster ) :

With the key off depress and hold the cruise control off button while turning the ignition to the run position,don't start the truck, the cruise light will flash once to let you know it is in self test.
Five additional flashes indicate a bad cruise control servo

Release the cruise off switch and within 5 seconds depress the other switches in sequence:
1. on
2. resume
3. coast
4. set/ accel
The speed control light will flash as each switch is depressed.

If the last one does not flash it may then flash a code

After this the cruise will move the throttle to test the actuator and the cable.
Make sure the throttle returns to idle and turn the key off.

WARNING:
This test is a key on engine off (KOEO) test only that is conducted in park only with emergency brake fully engaged.

1. Enter self-test diagnostics by depressing the speed control OFF switch while turning the ignition key ON, making sure the engine does not start and is not running. The speed control indicator on the instrument panel will flash once to indicate that speed control module entered the diagnostic mode. Five additional flashes at this point indicate a defective speed control servo. Release the OFF switch.

2. Press the remaining switches in this sequence: ON, RESUME, COAST and SET/ACCEL.

If the ON switch is not depressed within five seconds after entering the diagnostics mode, the module times out and the procedure must be started over.

I own a 2005 GMC Canyon Five CYL and the cruise control stopped working last niight. You push the button and no cruise. I checked the fuse and it is ok I exchanged with another 10AMP and no change still...


Start with the simple and check the fuses and the Stop lamp switch. Check your brake lights, if they're not working, the cruise won't work either. If they're not working, check the fuse for them, if the fuse is fine, then take it into the dealer, there's been a recall issued on the brake switch, so it should get fixed for free.
Cruise Control Disengaged
The powertrain control module (PCM) disengages the cruise control operation based on the signals from the following switches:

* The stop lamp switch
* The TCC brake/cruise release switch
* The clutch release switch, if equipped
* The cruise control On/Off switch

The TCC brake/cruise release switch and the stop lamp switch are mounted on the brake pedal bracket. When the brake pedal is applied, the normally closed TCC brake/cruise release switch opens and the normally open stop lamp switch closes. The PCM detects a low signal voltage on the TCC brake/cruise release switch signal circuit and a high signal voltage on the stop lamp switch signal circuit. When the clutch pedal is applied, the normally closed clutch release switch opens and the PCM detects zero voltage on the CCP switch signal circuit. The vehicle speed stored in the memory of the PCM will be erased when the cruise control On/Off button is turned OFF, or the ignition switch is turned OFF.

The Cruise Control System will disengage when the PCM detects that a driver override function has been active for approximately 60 seconds .

When the Cruise Control System is disengaged, the PCM sends a class 2 message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) in order to deactivate the cruise control indicator.

Cruise Control Inhibited
The powertrain control module (PCM) inhibits the cruise control operation when any of the following conditions exist:

* A cruise control related DTC has been set.
* The vehicle speed is less than 40.2 km/h (25 mph) .
* The vehicle is in PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, or 1st gear.
* The engine RPM is too low.
* The engine RPM is too high, with fuel cut off.
* The vehicle speed is too high, with fuel cut off.
* The system voltage is not between 9 volts and 16 volts .
* The Traction Control System (TCS) is active for more than 2 seconds .

Thank you for using Fixya and start with replacing the stop lamp switch. Even though the brake light work, it;s been known for that switch to cause your issue. that's way there was a recall for it.

2002 Ford F150. Cruise control stopped working.


Did you have the recall done on it ?
recall 05S28. Description: Speed Control Deactivation Switch.

It could be a blow fuse in the recall harness, if you did have it done.

Try the self test, and see what the results are. If you do not get it into self test mode, it could be the fuse in teh recall harness that is blown. The 1st revision of the recall harness was an inline ATM fuse, not sure if the revision 2 was the same. If that fuse is blown, the switch is leaking, and should be checked.

If the Cruise Control does not enter self test, the fuse in the recall harness ( if done ) is most likely blown and needs to be replaced.

Once you verify / change the Cruise Control Switch
This is the recall that hickoryy472 posted about ( you can also check on the ford site to see if it is still outstanding, it is free ).

Another option for testing is to pull the connector on the End of the Master Cylinder, and jumper the 2 pins in the connector together. This is a secondary safety switch, in case the tail lamps go out while using the CC, that the pressure switch will shut off the CC.

Next you can run a self test on the CC :

There is a self test in the cruise control system.
With the key off depress and hold the cruise control off button while turning the ignition to the run position,don't start the truck, the cruise light will flash once to let you know it is in self test.
Five additional flashes indicate a bad cruise control servo

Release the cruise off switch and within 5 seconds depress the other switches in sequence:
1. on
2. resume
3. coast
4. set/ accel
The speed control light will flash as each switch is depressed.

If the last one does not flash it may then flash a code

You don't have the stalk GM type CC switch, so clint969's post is good info, just for another manufacture.
The buttons ( if they are the problem ) can be removed from the steering wheel without pulling the steering wheel itself on a Ford.

Start with the recall, and then test the CC, and see if you have an issue still
