More than likely the housing has a crack or a bad gasket. The best way to find out is to disassemble it or take it in to the shop.

That hose is the drain hose for the air conditioner evaporator. If it is leaking coolant, there's a good chance that your heater core is leaking, as it is in the same 'box' that the air conditioner evaporator is in. You'll need to replace the heater core.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If that's the case then the transmission oil seal to the engine should be replaced. Is it a motor oil on the bell housing or transmission fluid? Either way it has to be the oil seal.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

V6 coolant leak

If it is in fact between the bellhousing and block, and not leaking down onto the outer surface of the bellhousing, its the freeze plug on the back of the block.
The engine or trans would need to be pulled to get to it.

The only thing I could think of is that you might have a leaking freeze plug on the back of the block.

Coolant leak on 97 grand cherokee, looks to be coming from the rear of the block between the transmission and oil sump is there a core plug (freeze plug) that end of the block, and how do i get at it

There are two on the rear of the block. If leaking, the coolant will be coming from inside the bellhousing. This part you won't need to remove the transmission to get at them. Check carefully that nothing external is leaking before doing anything further.

Radiator fluid dripping down transmission bellhousing

Either one of the coolant hoses routed near the firewall is leaking (heater core lines, etc) or the intake manifold gasket (common failure point on those vehicles) is leaking and will need to be replaced. You will have to either run the engine or pressurize the system and look for leaks.

Over heating.. leaks water out back of engine..

I'd be willing to bet your intake gaskets are leaking. Does the truck have a 4.3L vortec motor? If you get underneath it and the transmission bellhousing is wet with coolant it's probably leaking out the back of the intake. Intake gaskets were a very common failure on those motors and GM has actually redesigned them using different materials. I just did one thursday, about $50 in parts and about 5 hours in labor.

Coolant leak from rear of engine in bellhouseing area

Sounds like you have a freeze plug that has rusted out. And it is located in side the bell housing behind the flywheel. You will need to remove the transmission and the flywheel to gain access to the freeze plugs. There are two of them at the rear of the engine above the center line of the crankshaft. One to the left and one to the right.

93 lincoln town car coolant leak from rear of motor

Instead of removing the intake manifold and the the leaky manifold coolant hose, we simple place a 1" dia hose about 3" long with a **** down it so it can fit around the leaky coolant hose with two hose clamps and an agressive amount of "right stuff" silicone sealant and let stand for 24hrs which should fix the problem
